Hello. Can you please tell me how to change the password from the Wi-Fi router? The names of these 2 models are indicated on the router: No. TL-WR940N / TL-WR941ND. I understand that they are similar and the settings will be identical. Essence of the question:

  1. How to change the "Username" and "Password" in the simplest way so that you do not have to reset all settings and call the wizard?
  2. In addition to the main question under number 1), I described my situation under number 2). Can you also tell me what I did wrong?

Situation: 2) I just entered the new password into the string myself and saved it. I didn’t take any more actions, the connection to the network just crashed and the “limited” status is on on the laptop. And I can't connect to the network in any way. Did you need to unplug the router or take some other step after changing the password? Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Answer

Hello. A bit confusing situation. I understand that you want to change the password for the Wi-Fi network. The password that you need to enter on devices when connecting to the TP-Link TL-WR940N Wi-Fi network. Right?

If we are talking about a Wi-Fi network, then there is no "Username". There is a Wi-Fi network name (SSID). The username and password on the router are set to protect the settings of the router itself. But you probably are not writing about this.

As for the password for Wi-Fi. You can change it according to these instructions: how to change, or put the Wi-Fi password on TP-Link. For TL-WR940N / TL-WR941ND, this instruction will also work. After changing the password, you need to save the router settings, restart the router, remove the Wi-Fi network on the laptop and reconnect. Already with a new password.

I show:

Everything should work. If I misunderstood something, or you still had some problems with changing the password on the TP-Link TL-WR940N, then you can write to me in the comments.
