Each Wi-Fi network has a name, the so-called SSID (Service Set Identifier) network identifier. This is how a wireless network differs from another network. Sometimes, this name is hidden in order to additionally protect the Wi-Fi network, or for some other reason. But as a rule, when setting up routers, people simply leave the standard name of the Wi-Fi network.
You can open a list of available networks on your computer or phone, and most likely you will see that most networks have names such as "TP-LINK", "ASUS", etc. They may differ in numbers or some letters. Basically, it doesn't matter what your network is called. It doesn't affect anything. But you can come up with an original name for your network, and be different from your neighbors. For those who want to change the name of their Wi-Fi network, this article will definitely come in handy.
Now we will look at changing the wireless network name (SSID) on routers from different manufacturers. Everything is very simple there, the SSID is set on the page with the wireless network settings. Finding it in the router settings is not at all difficult. Let's take a closer look at TP-LINK, Asus, D-Link, ZyXEL, Tenda and Netis as examples.
After changing the SSID, you will need to reconnect all your devices that were previously connected to Wi-Fi. By specifying the password for your network.
Enter the name of the network in English letters. Numbers and different symbols can be used. The router will most likely allow you to set the name in Russian letters, but on devices it will be displayed incorrectly. I checked it on the Netis router, on the laptop the network name was displayed with some kind of "hieroglyphs".
Changing the Wi-Fi name to TP-LINK
Go to your router settings. How to open the control panel of the TP-LINK router, I wrote in this manual. Next open the tabWireless (Wireless), and in the field Wireless Network Name (Network Name) Please enter a new name. Save the settings by clicking on the button Save.
Reboot the router and connect to your Wi-Fi network, which will have a new name.
Changing the Wi-Fi name (SSID) on Asus routers
Connect to your router and open settings at 192.168.1.1. If you have any difficulties, look at this article: Entering the settings on Asus routers (192.168.1.1) In the settings, open the tab Wireless network, and in the field SSID change the name.
Do not forget to save the settings by clicking on the button Apply... You will see a window with information about your network: name and password.
Changing the SSID on the D-Link router
We go to the control panel of our D-Link router, usually at 192.168.0.1, and open the tab Wi-Fi... In fieldSSID we write down a new name for our network.
Click on the button Apply, save the settings and rejoice.
Manual for ZyXEL routers
Already according to the standard scheme, we connect to the router and open the settings in the browser. At ZyXEL they can be opened at 192.168.1.1. Click on the icon below Wi-Fi network, and in the fieldNetwork name (SSID) give a name.
Don't forget to press the button Apply.
Change SSID on Tenda router
In most cases, the Tenda router settings can be opened at 192.168.0.1. The main page with quick settings will appear. Click the linkAdvanced Settings in the upper right corner.
Next open the tabWireless settings... In field primary SSID you need to set a new name for the wireless network.
Click on Ok to save the parameters.
Setting the name of the wireless network on the Netis router
We go to the settings at http://netis.cc. If not, see this manual. And immediately on the main page with quick settings there will be a 2.4G SSID field (if you have a dual-band router, then there will still be a 5G SSID). We just write a new name for the network.
Push Save.
