Hello, I tried to connect a Windows 7 64-bit PC to WiFi via TP-LINK TL-WN725N v3 network adapter, downloaded newer drivers from the site for this version, enabled search for new connections, disabled antivirus.

The adapter is present in the device manager as a network adapter, it is also visible in the network connections tab, also when the adapter is connected to the system unit itself, the connection icon changes from a rectangle to sticks (signal level), when removed, a rectangle appears back, but there is no connection, it does not see no connections.

The strangest thing is that in the network connections tab, the wireless connection icon is not active, it is gray, you click RMB on the icon, select enable and the connection and connected windows appear again, but the icon remains gray, inactive, and connections do not appear either.

Windows diagnostics reports that the problem is with the adapter driver and / or with network connections. What could be the problem?

Answer

Hello. It is difficult to understand such a problem from the description. It would be much better if you attach screenshots. At least from the "Network Connections" window and the window that opens after clicking on the Wi-Fi (signal strength) icon in the Windows 7 tray.

In the "Network Connections" window, when you right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter and select enable, what exactly is happening? What is the status next to "Wireless Network Connection"? And what happens if you just click on the Wi-Fi icon in the tray.

Maybe there is simply not a single Wi-Fi network in the radius, so the computer does not see available Wi-Fi networks.

A few tips:

  • Remove the TP-LINK TL-WN725N Wi-Fi adapter in the device manager and restart your computer.
  • Download the driver "TL-WN725N (EU) _V3_180807_Win" from TP-Link website and re-install it.
  • Look for solutions in the article TP-Link adapter does not see the network, does not connect to Wi-Fi. There I showed how to solve some problems with Wi-Fi adapters from TP-Link.

You can complete your question in the comments. Including screenshots. I think they will clarify a lot.
