Today we will review the updated version of the TP-Link TL-WR940N router (hardware version v3). Previously, this router came in a white case. Which, frankly, is a little outdated and the manufacturer has updated it. Now the TL-WR940N comes in a beautiful and modern black case with a new shape. And as far as I understand, not only the case has been updated, but also the chipset itself, on which the router is running. The hardware is updated with each new hardware version.
What is TL-WR940N. I think this is a router that is just perfect for use in a private house or apartment. Especially when your apartment is not small, you will connect via Wi-Fi not one or two devices, but more, and at the same time you want to watch online videos, play online games, etc. without any problems. You can buy a cheaper model TP- LINK TL-WR841N. But if finances allow, then it is better to take TP-Link TL-WR940N, it is not much more expensive. Well, if you need Wi-Fi 5GHz, and a USB port, then see TP-LINK Archer C20, or Tp-Link Archer C20i. TP-Link TL-WR940N Review
As I already wrote, this model was previously produced in a white case. But, starting with the hardware version v3, TP-Link has updated the design of this router. Not just updated, but completely replaced it.
Now it is a modern device that is made of black plastic. And on the front panel, the plastic has a relief structure (see photo). Which, of course, only decorates the router. Also on the front panel there is a TP-Link logo, which also looks three-dimensional, and indicators that glow blue. By the way, regarding the WAN (Internet) indicator. I have already seen it on several new TP-Link routers, now when the cable is connected to the WAN port, but the router is not connected to the Internet (for example, due to settings), the WAN indicator is orange (red). It is very convenient.
Well, as usual, all ports and buttons are hidden on the back of the router. There we have 1 WAN, and 4 LAN ports. There are also three buttons: power on / off, WPS / RESET button, and Wi-Fi network on / off button. And of course the power adapter connector.
There are also three antennas fixed there, but they are not removable. As for their power, they seem to be 5dbi each.
Unfortunately, there is no way to hang the router on the wall. For many, this is an important point.

Since the first hardware version, the TP-Link TL-WR940N router has become very popular among buyers. Due to the good quality / price ratio. And with hardware v3 and up, I think this router will become even more popular. True, among those who are not chasing new technologies. After all, this model does not support the new IEEE 802.11ac standard (Wi-Fi 5GHz), and there is no USB port. But this, of course, affected its price.
