This article can be useful to all owners of ASUS routers. I will try to answer the most popular questions related to the address router.asus.com... This address can be used to enter the settings of the ASUS router, instead of the usual IP address 192.168.1.1. ASUS still uses 192.168.1.1 by default. And at this address you can easily access the web interface.

I noticed that when I try to enter the settings of my ASUS RT-N18U by typing the address 192.168.1.1 in the browser, a request for a username and password appears, and the address in the browser line changes to router.asus.com. Now almost all manufacturers have started using this type of address (hostname) to enter the control panel of their network devices. But accessing settings by IP address also works and will work. ASUS is in no hurry to change the default address indicated on the router case. There is still 192.168.1.1. At least on those devices that I have come across lately. It is possible that the address will be changed on devices from new batches. But I would not advise them to do this. It is much easier for ordinary users to use a regular IP address, to which everyone is already accustomed.

Everyone probably knows how to go to router.asus.com or 192.168.1.1. It is enough to go to the corresponding address on the device connected to the ASUS router via Wi-Fi or via a network cable in the browser. Then enter the username and password, and then gain access to the control panel, or open the setup wizard. You can even do this through your phone.

I described this process in more detail in the article entering the settings on Asus routers (192.168.1.1) and the IP address of the ASUS router.

But it is not always possible to open the web interface without problems. Some problems:

  • Router.asus.com does not open. An error appears that the site is inaccessible, there is no Internet connection, etc. Either the ASUS site or the site of some search engine opens instead of the settings page.
  • Username and password request. What data to enter, and what to do if we do not know, or have forgotten the login and password from the ASUS router. Usually, when we enter incorrect data for authorization, the error "Invalid username or password" appears.
  • Browser error: "router.asus.com redirected too many times." I have not encountered such an error. And I didn't find much on the Internet. If you have information on this issue, then write to us in the comments. I can advise you to sign in through a different browser, or from a different device.

Let's take a closer look at possible solutions to these problems.

Why won't router.asus.com open?

How it happens: we enter http://router.asus.com in the browser, go to, and see an error that the site could not be found, does not work, does not allow a connection, or it did not send data. Basically, the wording of the error depends on the browser.

Or, instead of the authorization page, or the page with the router settings, another site or search engine opens.

1 Make sure that the device with which you are trying to enter the control panel of the router is connected to it. And there is only one active connection. If it's a mobile device, turn off cellular data. If it is a laptop or PC, then the connection should be either cable or Wi-Fi. 2 Be sure to try going to http://192.168.1.1. This should work.

If an error appears that there is no connection, then return to the first point. By the way, the connection may be without internet access. Nothing wrong. The page at router.asus.com, or 192.168.1.1, should open exactly.

3 Be sure to turn off the VPN. Maybe you have an extension in your browser, or a VPN connection is configured through the application. Use a standard browser. For example, Microsoft Edge, or Internet Explorer. In my Yandex Browser, when I try to open the address router.asus.com, the company's website opens. And in this browser I have no add-ons installed. 4 If changing the browser did not help, try to enter the settings through another device. Let me remind you that you can use a smartphone or tablet for these purposes. Just connect it to the Wi-Fi network of the router, the settings of which you need to get into.
5If you are doing everything on a computer, then there is another way. Go to "My Computer" (Explorer) on the "Network" tab. Your ASUS router should be there, as I have in the screenshot below. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "View device web page".

A tab with the address of the router will open in the browser.

6 Check the IP address acquisition settings on your computer. In the properties of the adapter through which you are connected to the router. In the properties of the IPv4 protocol, you need to set the automatic acquisition of IP addresses.

After restarting your computer and router, try again.

What username and password to specify on the ASUS router authorization page

When we go to router.asus.com, or to the IP address 192.168.1.1, the authorization page appears. The model of our router is listed there, and it says: "Log in with your router account." You need to enter the username (username) and password (password).

We enter them and click on the "Login" button. By default (at factory settings), ASUS routers always use the username - admin, and the password too admin... They are indicated on the router itself.

But the factory username and password can be changed in router setting... If the standard admin / admin do not fit (the "Invalid username or password" error appears), and you have not changed your username and password, or have forgotten them, you will have to reset all the parameters of the router to the factory settings. According to the instructions: how to reset the settings on an Asus router. After that, the standard admin / admin should come up.
