For many, an access point is some kind of incomprehensible device that is no different from a regular router. I even wrote an article on this topic: What is a Wi-Fi hotspot? What is the difference between a router and an access point. So, today I will show you the most real TP-LINK EAP120 access point. In general, there are three access points in the EAP line. There is also the most affordable EAP110, and the most powerful and expensive EAP220.

These access points have been designed for business use. What even a special inscription on the box with the device says. Of course, no one bothers you to install this access point at home. But, you are unlikely to need it. For the home, you can find a simpler and cheaper device. And one router is usually enough, well, a maximum of two.

As for the access points from the EAP line, this is a great solution for organizing a Wi-Fi network in cafes, restaurants, offices, hotels, recreation centers, on beaches and other places where you need to make a Wi-Fi network for customers. You can't put several routers connected to the network there. No, you can do that, but it's not serious. And setting up such a scheme will not be easy. And access points like TP-LINK EAP120 are what you need.

For example, you need to make a Wi-Fi network in a hotel. We install the switch to which we connect the Internet. And we connect the required number of access points to the switch. And we get a reliable and stable network that is easy to manage.

TP-LINK EAP120 Access Point Overview

Almost the entire body is made of white glossy plastic. There is only one indicator on the front panel, and the TP-LINK logo.

All connectors and buttons are located on the rear panel: there is 1 RJ45 Ethernet port with IEEE802.3af PoE support, 1 console port, ON / OFF button, reset button, and a Kensington connector.

I forgot to write about one important point. This is a ceiling-mounted access point. This means that it can be fixed to the ceiling or wall. Which is very convenient. The kit includes a mounting kit.

Below there are holes for this mount, and a sticker with the necessary factory information on the access point.

Another good thing is that there is a Kensington connector. You can install the access point somewhere in the corridor, fix it, and are not afraid that one of the visitors will carry it away 🙂

Features and specifications TP-LINK EAP120
