There is a router ASUS RT-AC55U Internet from Beeline 100 Mbps. Recently, I noticed that the wifi speed dropped and only for reception, namely, if earlier the speed in the 5 GHz band in the speed test on the iPhone was 70/70 Mbit / s, now it is 35/70, a little less, but the reception speed in the range has also dropped 2.4GHz. At first I thought that it might be due to the new firmware, and I asked for the previous version, but I could not return the speed. I tried to do the same reset to factory settings did not help either. What can it be and where to dig?

Answer

The speed of the Internet, especially over a Wi-Fi network, this thing is very unstable and unpredictable.

It seems to me that the first step is to make sure that the speed is not limited by the provider. You need to connect the Internet directly to your computer, or at least via a cable from a router. And check the speed.

Also, the speed may drop due to some kind of interference. Although at 5 GHz this is unlikely. You can experiment with channel and channel width settings for 5 GHz frequencies.

I would still install the new firmware back.

I have no other options why the speed dropped.
