But, do not forget that the router has another password that protects the settings of your router.
Each Wi-Fi router has settings. Anyone who is connected to a Wi-Fi router can enter these settings. So, so that no one can open the settings of your router, and change them, when entering the settings page, you need to specify the username and password. By default, the username is usually admin, and the password is also admin.
And what is most interesting, in the process of setting up the router, rarely anyone changes this password. Now I will show you how to change the admin password, which is used to access the router settings. Let's look at the example of routers: Tp-Link, D-link, Asus and Zyxel.
I strongly advise you to change the default admin password to another, more complex one, even during the router configuration process. If this is not done, then your neighbor, for example, having connected to your Wi-Fi, will be able to go into the settings and change them. For example, change the password for a Wi-Fi network :) You will not be able to connect to Wi-Fi anymore. Well, when you understand what the matter is, you will have to reset the router settings and configure it again.
And you need to protect the settings of the router from clients who will connect to your network. Your relatives, friends, colleagues, etc. No matter what they climb there, and change nothing.
When you change your password, try to remember it, or better yet, write it down somewhere. If you forget it, you will not be able to open the router's settings and you will have to do a factory reset.
Change the admin password on the Tp-Link router
Let's first look at changing the password to enter the settings on Tp-Link. You need to connect to the router and go to the settings at 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1. Specify username and password to get into the settings. The default ones are admin and admin. Here are detailed instructions on how to log into the control panel on Tp-Link.
In the settings, open the tabSystem Tools - Password... In the fieldsOld User Name and Old Password you need to provide the old username and password. If you haven't changed them, then these are admin and admin. Well, you need to specify a new username, and twice a new password. The username can be left as admin if you like.
After pressing the key Save, an authorization window will appear, in which you need to specify the new username and password.
Changing the password for entering the settings on D-link routers
Go to settings at 192.168.0.1. Go to the tab System - Administrator password... Enter the new password twice and click Apply... A popup will appear "Device configuration has been changed"... Click on it to save your changes.
By the way, the router won't let you set the admin password again. It must be different from the login.
After rebooting, to enter the settings, you will need to specify a new password.
Protection of Asus router settings
Go to the control panel at 192.168.1.1. You can watch this instruction. In the settings go to the tab Administration... In field New Password, you need to provide a password to protect the settings. Enter the password twice and click Apply.
After that, use a new password to enter the settings.
Change the admin password on ZyXEL routers
On Zyxel routers, everything is about the same. First you need to go to the settings. In the settings go to the bottom of the tab System, select the tab on top Users, and click on admin.
A window will appear in which you need to enter a password and click the button Save.
