Why doesn't the Mercusys MW305R go into settings?

Hello! Help if you can.

Problem: it doesn't work, I can't go to the Mercusys MW305R settings page to control the PC and tablet in terms of distributing traffic.

The D-LINK DSL-2540V modem has served faithfully for many years - I didn't want to change it to a modem with Wi-Fi, so I bought a Mercusys MW305R to allocate the Internet to my wife's LENOVO tablet.

Initially, when installing, I did everything according to the instructions:

  • disconnected the modem
  • connected the wi-fi router to the modem with a cable
  • turned on the router and waited for it to load
  • turned on the modem
  • entered mwlogin.net in the address bar of the opera - went to the settings page, entered passwords

In the tablet I turned on the wi-fi, entered the password - I went to the PC at mwlogin.net to share the Internet speed, but this did not work (in the modem settings, as advised, before the start of all operations, I set the DNS and IP to the machine after that I cleared the DNS cache).

So, on such DNS (auto) settings, the Internet began to glitch on the PC and tablet - the pages were hanging, etc., I registered my old DNS on which everything was ok - everything immediately worked great on both the PC and the tablet ...

But after that I can not log on to my PC and tablet to mwlogin.net.

I did all this several times (after disconnecting all the cables and completely resetting the router) - the result is the same.

I would be very grateful for your help.

Best regards, Sergei.

P.S. Yes, and in the PC device manager, I do not see the Mercusys MW305R although WiFi is working.

Answer

Hello. You mentioned the address "nwlogin.net" several times in your question. The correct address is mwlogin.net. In a separate article, I have already shown how to go to mwlogin.net and open the settings of Mercusys routers.

The ADSL modem + Wi-Fi router scheme is very simple. If the Internet via cable from the modem used to work, then it should work without problems through the router. Including Wi-Fi.

I didn't quite understand exactly where and why you changed the DNS and IP settings on the modem. If the Internet via a modem worked. On the router, did you connect the cable to the WAN (Internet) port? It is also not clear how the Internet can generally fail due to DNS. How pages can "hang". If there is something with DNS, then sites do not open. Or not all sites open.

  • On your computer and tablet, you must have automatic IP and DNS acquisition configured. You can reset Windows settings.
  • In the browser, try going to 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1
  • You can try typing the address from http - http://mwlogin.net
  • On the router, you do not need to change any settings other than the Wi-Fi network (name / password).
  • Mercusys MW305R should not appear in Device Manager. In no case.
  • There are other solutions in this article: https://help-wifi.com/oshibki-i-polomki/chto-delat-esli-ne-zaxodit-v-nastrojki-routera-na-192-168-0-1-ili -192-168-1-1 /. There I told you what to do if you don't go into the router settings. For Mercusys, these tips work too.

If you can't go to the settings, then you can add your question in the comments. Perhaps I misunderstood something.
