Asus PRO5MJ laptop. The WLAN auto-configuration service is enabled, in the Windows Mobility Center, wireless communication cannot be turned on at all, the button is clouded, I tried to update the firewood, Atheros, so there is no such thing on my computer on the Asus website, even more, my computer does not specifically have Asus PRO5MJ, disp. device driver: Qualcomm Atheros AR96285 Wireless Network Adapter written, involved, the device is working properly writes.

I also tried to eliminate the shortcomings in the tray using diagnostics, they were not found.

The Fn + F2 keyboard shortcut does not help, the lamp does not light up when turned on, what should I do?

Answer

Hello. Doesn't the case have a separate switch for controlling the wireless network?

If you type "PRO5MJ" in the search on the Asus website, then there are models PRO5MJL, PRO5MJQ, PRO5MJG, etc.

Maybe you have one of these models and drivers will fit. Press the keyboard shortcut Win + R, enter the command Msinfo32 and click Ok. The device information appears. Look at the laptop model there. Maybe there is other information.

On the site, in the Wireless section, there are drivers with utilities. Perhaps, after installing the driver with the utility, everything will work. You can also try to install the utilityKeyboard Device Filter Utility (it is on the ASUS website for the laptop models I wrote about above). After installing it, you may be able to turn on Wi-Fi using a keyboard shortcut. I have come across this more than once.

If there is a Qualcomm Atheros AR96285 Wireless Network Adapter in Device Manager and it works fine, then it is unlikely that the problem is in the Wi-Fi adapter driver. Most likely, it is the key combination (that they do not work), or the power settings (for which, by the way, there should also be a separate utility). It's weird that Windows Mobility Center can't turn on Wi-Fi. The Wireless button is inactive.

You can remove this Wi-Fi module from the device manager. Perhaps after restarting the laptop, Wi-Fi will work.

Try it. You can write about the results in the comments. If it's not difficult, attach a screenshot from Device Manager, Mobility Center and the "Network Connections" window in the comments.
