As soon as we put a tick next to the item "Allow other network users to use the Internet connection of this computer", we immediately see the message"Error while enabling Internet Connection Sharing"... From my own experience, I can say that very different errors can appear at this moment. Well, the solutions, most likely, will also be different.
As I noticed, and today I was convinced of this again, this error appears due to the disabled built-in Windows firewall. And it doesn't matter if you have Windows 7 or Windows 10. Therefore, you need to check the firewall settings and the service itself. If it is disabled, then enable it. After that, the error should disappear, and you can distribute the Internet from your computer.
Solving an error when allowing Internet sharing in Windows
I will show it using the example of Windows 10. But if you have, for example, a seven, then problems should not arise, everything is about the same there.
We need to go to Services. To do this, you can right-click on "Computer" or "This computer" and select "Manage". Also, "Services" can be found through the search in Windows 10.
Next, go to "Services", look for the "Windows Firewall" service in the list, right-click on it and select "Properties".
Set the startup type to "Automatic" and click on the "Start" button. Then click on "Apply" and "Ok".
After that, we try to open public access. If it doesn't work, you can still restart your computer and try again.
You can also check the firewall settings through the control panel. Can be found by searching for "firewall".
If everything works out, then you can easily enable Internet Sharing.
