MacBook Pro connects to WiFi, but no internet access

Good afternoon! I carefully read the article about what to do if the computer does not receive the Internet when WiFi is connected. I did not find a solution to my problem. I have a new MacBook Pro.

He connects to the Internet in the office without problems, but at home it takes a very long time to connect and, as a result, there is no Internet. On all other devices, including the previous Mac, it connects without problems. I tried to reboot the router, change the ip address of this Mac, take down configuration files from the Mac. Nothing helped. Please advise what could be the problem?

Answer

Good afternoon. If the Internet works on other devices, including another computer with Mac OS, then the problem is unlikely to be in the router. Though, the new MacBook Pro may not like some of your Wi-Fi settings.

As far as I understand, on MacBook, have you tried to remove the Wi-Fi network from the list of known networks and reconnect to it (with a password)?

Return the TCP / IP settings to Automatic (DHCP).

Try to register DNS from Google in the MacBook Pro settings.

There is hardly anything else that can be done on the side of the MacBook Pro itself. Moreover, it works with other Wi-Fi networks.

What you can try to do in the Wi-Fi router settings (after these settings, you will most likely have to reconnect all devices):

  1. Change the Wi-Fi network name (SSID). Set a unique name in English letters.
  2. The security type of your Wi-Fi network must be WPA2 with AES encryption. Read more here.
  3. If possible, then in the Wi-Fi network settings on the router, you need to set the 802.11n operating mode.
  4. You can try to set the width of the Wi-Fi channel to 20 MHz.

These are all recommended settings from the Apple website. Remember to save your settings and reboot your router.

You also need to make sure that in the router settings, someone simply did not turn off the Internet for your MacBook Pro. Maybe that's why there is no internet access.

You can also conduct such an experiment: turn off Wi-Fi on all devices. Restart the router and connect only MacBook Pro to Wi-Fi.
