The Internet stopped working after rearranging the ASUS RT-N10E router

Hello!

I'm sorry to trouble you.

I have an ASUS RT-N10E router, connecting it via a cable to a SAMSUNG laptop, Windows 7 is installed. The day before yesterday I disconnected the router from the power supply, I had to rearrange it. Then I turned it on, but a yellow triangle appeared on the Internet icon, it was indicated in the Network and Sharing Center that the network cable was not connected.

I rummaged through the Internet through an iPhone (via cellular data, not wi-fi, wi-fi also does not work on an iPhone), I found articles, including those on your website. I tried to register the data (Ip, gateway, DNS ...) manually.

The triangle disappeared, the "Center" ordered that there is an Internet connection, everything is normal, BUT not a browser, not Zona, any other Internet program did not work, gave an error, there was no connection or connection failure, or simply hung.

I have already tried many recommendations, up to reinstalling browsers (Yandex, Opera, Google), uninstalling antivirus (Avast), trying without it, the same story.

The Internet icon is normal, it shows that the connection is normal, the diagnostics did not reveal anything, I contacted the provider, they also say everything is fine with the network, but nothing is loading for me.

I'll add more! this already happened in September, for two days everything was the same, manually entered the network data and it worked. This time the third day went, nothing helped.

Please, tell me, give any recommendation, I will be very grateful.

Regards, user Mamed!

Hello. It seems to me that you immediately started applying the wrong solutions and decided that the problem was in the computer, which made it worse (changed different parameters on the computer).

It all started after disconnecting and rearranging the ASUS RT-N10E router. The router in our case is the main device that connects to the Internet (provider) and distributes the Internet to the laptop via cable and via Wi-Fi to other devices. On the same iPhone. The fact that the Internet does not work from the router, not only on the laptop, but also on the iPhone, most likely indicates that the router is not connected to the Internet for some reason. And the reason is most likely precisely in the router. If the Internet worked on devices via Wi-Fi, and did not work only on a laptop via cable, then yes - the problem is in the laptop (cable, LAN ports on the router).

a yellow triangle appeared on the internet icon, and the network and Sharing Center indicated that the network cable was not connected

That's impossible. When there is a yellow exclamation mark on the connection icon, the status cannot be "network cable not connected". Maybe your laptop is also connected via Wi-Fi to the router.

Additional questions and recommendations:

  • Turn off your router. Check if the cable from the ISP is correctly connected to the WAN port (blue). Disconnect and reconnect it. Turn on your router. See how the WAN (Internet) indicator behaves.
  • Return the IP and DNS settings to the computer automatically. Everything should work if the DHCP server is not disabled on your router. See if the LAN indicator on the router lights up when the cable is connected to the computer. How the connection icon changes in Windows.
  • You can go to the settings of the ASUS router and check the parameters for connecting to the provider in the "WAN (Internet)" section. And on the main page with the router settings it will immediately be written whether the router is connected to the Internet or not.
You can go to the settings from the iPhone by connecting to the Wi-Fi network of the router. Even without internet access. If the status is "Connected" in the settings, then the problem may be on the computer side. And if the router is not connected to the Internet, then you need to check the connection parameters and find out this issue with the provider.

First, you need to make sure that the router is connected to the Internet. That the Internet works on other devices from ASUS RT-N10E. And then already look for solutions on the computer. If the internet still won't work.
