One of the notable changes that came with Windows 10 is Bluetooth. If in Windows 7 it was not entirely clear how to turn on the Bluetooth adapter and where to find it, then in Windows 10 everything is much simpler and clearer. In this article, we will look at how to enable Bluetooth in Windows 10, how to find the settings, and what to do if Bluetooth on the laptop does not work, there is no power button, and there is not even the Bluetooth adapter itself in the device manager.

If you don't know if your laptop has Bluetooth at all, then you can look at the characteristics on some website or in an online store. I think that if your laptop is not very old, then there is a Bluetooth adapter in it. That's just a question in the driver. After all, if Windows 10 was unable to select and install the driver on the adapter itself, then Bluetooth of course will not work.

It may be that when you go into the settings, or try to turn on Bluetooth on a laptop, you will see that the power button and the "Bluetooth" section itself are not in the Windows 10 settings. What to do in such a situation, we will also consider in this article. So that you do not get confused, we will do everything according to the following scheme:

  • Turn on Bluetooth on a laptop
  • Let's consider the Bluetooth settings in Windows 10 (searching for devices, connecting devices, turning off the adapter).
  • Let's figure out what to do if there is no Bluetooth enable button. Installing and updating drivers.

Turn on Bluetooth in Windows 10

For some reason, everyone writes that to turn on the adapter, you must use the key combination Fn + F2, Fn + F3, etc. To be honest, I don’t understand where this information comes from. On my Asus laptop, pressing the Fn + F2 keys (F2 with the wireless network icon) simply turns on and off the "Airplane" mode. It is clear that for Bluetooth to work, the "airplane" mode must be disabled. If everything is different on your laptop, write about it in the comments.

Everything is much simpler. Click on the notification center icon, and see the button thereBluetooth... Click on it and it will turn blue. This means Bluetooth is already on. To turn it off, click on this button again.

That's it 🙂 You can connect devices such as Bluetooth headphones.

If you do not have such a button, as I have in the screenshot above, then most likely the adapter is disabled, or the driver is not installed. Read about how to solve this problem at the end of this article.

Bluetooth device management, connection, setting

To open the options, see the available and connected devices and enable the discovery of your laptop by other devices, just right-click the Bluetooth enable button and select Go to parameters.

A window with parameters will open. The laptop will search for Bluetooth devices and display them in the list. You can establish a connection with these devices. It is enough to select the desired device, press the button To tie, and follow the instructions. If it is Bluetooth headphones, a speaker, etc., then they are already visible by default, and the laptop will detect them. And if it is, for example, a smartphone, then it may be hidden from search, and Windows 10 will not see it. This is all disabled in the settings of the smartphone itself.

In the same window, there is also a button to turn Bluetooth on and off. As for the settings, there are not many of them. To open them, just click on the item Other Bluetooth options... A new window will appear, in which you can only enable or disable the detection of your laptop. If you uncheck the box Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computerthen all devices will not be able to see your laptop. But, you will see them, and you will be able to connect to them.

Also, immediately after turning on, an icon will appear on the notification bar. By clicking on it, you can quickly go to different settings: adding a new device, sending / receiving files, going to settings, etc.

These are the settings. You can easily connect and manage new devices. You are unlikely to transfer files, but wireless headphones, acoustics, mice, etc., are very convenient.

Bluetooth does not work in Windows 10. No power button

So, if your laptop does not have any signs of Bluetooth (there is no power button, and there is no section in the parameters), then most likely:

  • The driver is not installed on the adapter.
  • The adapter is disabled and therefore Bluetooth does not work.
  • Or it is not installed in your laptop at all.

It's easy to check. We need to open the Device Manager. To do this, right-click on the button "Start", and select from the list device Manager.

Next, we find the tabBluetooth and click on it. There must be one or more devices. If you have an icon (in the form of an arrow) near the adapter, then right-click on it and select Engage.

After that, everything will work.

What if the adapter is not at all in Device Manager?

In this case, you just need to install the Bluetooth driver for the adapter that is installed in your laptop. This driver must be for Windows 10. In the manager, you will most likely have at least one unknown device, on the tab Other devices.

You can download the driver from the official website of your laptop, and it is obligatory for your model. If you have a USB Bluetooth adapter, then look for drivers for it (model and manufacturer are indicated on the box). True, you may not find drivers for Windows 10. But, I think that this is a rarity, since the "dozen" usually installs drivers for wireless modules by itself. As a last resort, you can use the program to automatically search for and install drivers. After installing the driver, in the device manager you should have something like this (your names may be different):

And if you have the necessary devices, but Bluetooth does not work, or is not stable, then you need to update the drivers. This can be done by downloading the driver and installing it, or via the Internet from the device manager. By the way, Windows 10 itself updated the drivers for me (it just usually writes that the update is not needed).

Right click on the adapter, and select Update drivers.

Then choose Automatically search for updated drivers, and if there are any, the system itself will download them from the Internet and install. Well, or say that the update is not needed. Your laptop must of course be connected to the internet.

I think that after these steps, everything works fine for you. I saw a lot of similar instructions on the Internet, in which there is just a lot of unnecessary information that only confuses. Therefore, I tried to make the article as simple and informative as possible.
