192.168.0.1 is the IP address of a large number of router and modem models. You probably saw this address on the router itself, in the setup instructions, or somewhere on the Internet. And most likely you know that 192.168.0.1 is used to enter the settings of a router or modem. Everything is correct. Now we will figure out how to log into the router at 192.168.0.1, where to enter it, and what are admin and admin. Our main goal is to go to the router settings page.

Let's tell you how it all works. You will understand the diagram and it will be easier to figure it out. And then, I will already show with an example what and how you need to do to open the page with router settings. The network device itself (router, modem) runs on its own small operating system. These are independent devices. Therefore, there are no drivers for the router. To configure the router, you need to go to its control panel. The control panel itself is called differently: web interface, router page, personal account, site with router settings, etc.

Depending on the manufacturer and model, the network device has factory settings (which are set by default). Among which are the address for entering the control panel, the factory login and password. Let's take a closer look:

  • Router (modem) address. Most often, this is the IP address (from numbers):192.168.0.1, or192.168.1.1... It can also use not the IP address, but the hostname (address from letters). For example: tplinkwifi.net, wifi.com, my.keenetic.net, etc. Even if an address from letters is specified on the router, you can go to the settings exactly by the IP address. The address itself is almost always indicated on the device. Usually on a sticker on the bottom of the device. Also, factory information can be indicated in the instructions, or on the box.
  • admin and admin... The control panel of the router itself is protected by a username and password. To enter the settings, after going to the address 192.168.0.1 (in our case), you need to specify a username and password. Again, depending on the specific device model, the factory login and password may differ. Most often, the word admin is used as the login and password (by default). This information is also indicated on the device itself. There are models, for example, for ZyXEL, when there is no login and password from the factory. It must be installed immediately after entering the settings.

Therefore, first of all, you need to see what address and what factory login and password are used to access the control panel of your specific network device. As I wrote above, in most cases, all this factory information is indicated on the device itself. It looks something like this:

Knowing this information, we can open the page with the settings of the router.

Login to the router at 192.168.0.1. Login and password - admin

Please note that the device from which you want to enter the router settings at 192.168.0.1 must be connected to the router itself. Via a network cable or Wi-Fi network. It doesn't have to be a computer. The settings can be accessed from a smartphone, tablet, and other devices.

To access the settings page, you need to use any browser. It can be Opera, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge (on Windows 10), or some other browser, including on a mobile device. There is one important point here, the IP address 192.168.0.1 must be entered in the address bar, and not in the search bar.

After going to the address, a login and password request will appear. We indicate them. As we already found out above, most often these are admin and admin.

It is important to understand that the page itself, which will open at 192.168.0.1, may look different. It all depends on the specific device. I showed it on the example of a TP-Link router. But the scheme is always the same: open the browser, go to the address, enter the username and password, and confirm the login.

I think that links to instructions for entering the control panel on routers from popular manufacturers will not be superfluous:

Below we will look at a few solutions that will be useful to you if you were unable to enter the settings of your router or modem.

Doesn't go to 192.168.0.1. What to do?

I wrote many solutions on this topic in a separate article: what to do if it does not go into the router settings for 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Here we will look at the main and most common problems and solutions.

To start:

We check the IP settings, if it does not go into the router settings

We need to open the properties of the connection through which we are connected to the router. To do this, go to the "Network and Sharing Center", and go to "Change adapter settings".

If the connection is via Wi-Fi, then right-click on "Wireless network" (Wireless network connection). If the connection is by cable, then click on "Ethernet" (Local Area Connection). We select "Properties".

Then select the line "IP version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" and click on the "Properties" button. We set the automatic receipt of parameters and click "Ok".

After restarting the computer, try to access 192.168.0.1. If it doesn't help, then you can try to register the addresses manually. More or less like this:

After rebooting, try again to get access to the router settings. If this does not help, then most likely you will have to reset the router settings. More on this below.

Doesn't fit admin and admin at 192.168.0.1

It is not uncommon for the authorization page to open, but after entering the login and password admin, nothing happens. The page simply reloads, or a message appears that the password is incorrect.

First, look at the case of the router, what password and login is used by default in your case. If it is still admin and admin, then most likely the password (and / or login) was changed in the router settings. Therefore, if you do not remember it, then most likely you will have to reset the router settings and configure it again. If this is not a hardware problem, and after a factory reset, you can go to the control panel.

Important! It is possible that after resetting the settings, the Internet through the router will stop working (if it worked before). And I cannot guarantee that this will solve the problem with entering the settings of the router. If you still manage to log into 192.168.0.1, then you can configure your router again.

Resetting the settings is not difficult. It is enough to find the Reset button on the router, press it, and hold it for about 10-15 seconds. Typically, this button is recessed into the body, so you need to press it with something sharp.

After resetting the settings, to access the control panel you need to use the factory address, username and password, which are indicated on the device itself, or in the instructions.

I think you managed to log into the router at 192.168.0.1. If nothing worked, and you have tried all the solutions I wrote about above, then describe your case in the comments. Do not forget, this may be a hardware failure of the router. Pay attention to how the indicators work. And try to remember where the problems started.
