And they are very similar in appearance. Only TL-WR842ND has white antennas, and I liked them more than black ones.
One of the main advantages of TP-LINK TL-WR842ND is the presence of a USB connector. If you need an inexpensive router with a USB connector, then you can safely buy this model. In the USB connector, you can connect a USB storage device, or an external hard drive, and organize file sharing (FTP, or DLNA server). You can also connect a printer and set up a print server.
The second hardware version of the TL-WR842ND (RU) V2 router also supports 3G / 4G modems. If you are looking for a router to distribute the Internet from a USB modem, then you can safely consider this router (only the second hardware version V2). There is a little confusion with this model. The fact is that there is also a TL-WR842ND (RU) model (with (RU) at the end). This router model is made specifically for the Russian market. There the control panel is in Russian, and there is support for 3G / 4G modems.

I won't write much here. The router is made of white, matte plastic, which does not leave any prints or scratches. The body of the router itself is well known, I think to many, there are several models in such a case, and for a very long time. On the front side there are, as usual, indicators that light up or blink when a certain function or connection is working. On the back of the device there are two antennas (removable), 4 LAN ports, 1 WAN port, and 1 USB 2.0. There is a separate button to turn on / off the Wi-Fi network, and a WPS / RESET button to activate the WPS function, and reset the settings (if you hold the button for about 10 seconds). But there is no button to turn off the power, and it certainly would not be superfluous.
The router can be hung on the wall. The antennas are folded, the necessary holes are there.

I really liked the router. I think the TL-WR842ND is just the perfect home router. And if you don't need a USB connector, then you can still save money and buy TL-WR841ND.
