Good afternoon. Tell me please. I have a TP-Link WR741ND router. A year ago, its range was reduced to 3 meters. Moreover, in the list of wireless devices, my router is available in the most remote places of the apartment, but it is not possible to connect to it. The data transfer rate also dropped: via the router - ~ 7 Mbps, and over the cable - ~ 90 Mbps. I changed it to an identical one, but it didn't help. That is, this is not a problem with the router. My version is that some kind of radiation source appeared nearby, which interferes with the signal of the router. Although this is not accurate. I changed the channels in the router settings, but that did not help either. Tell me what can be done in this situation? Thanks.

Answer

Good afternoon. Yes, it is quite possible that this is due to interference. Maybe because of this, such an unstable Wi-Fi network signal and unstable work.

Such problems on all devices? Do your devices find many neighboring Wi-Fi networks in your house?

What can I advise:

  • If possible, move the router to another location. To another room, for example. True, this is not always possible due to the network cable from the Internet provider, which is laid in a specific room.
  • Experiment more with the Wi-Fi network channel. You wrote that it gives nothing. Have you tried different channels? After each change, save the settings and reboot your TP-Link TL-WR741ND. Read more in the article: how to find a free Wi-Fi channel, and change the channel on the router.
  • Also experiment with channel width.
Remember to save your settings and reboot your router.
  • In the same place, in the Wi-Fi network settings, change the region to yours.
