Hello!

I ask for help with the next question. The Xiaomi Mi Roborock Sweep One S50 International robot vacuum cleaner cannot connect to the MiHom app. The application is uploaded to the iPad, home Internet through the ASUS RT-N11P router. In the MiHom application, the vacuum cleaner is not automatically visible, it is possible to hook it manually, but at the stage of connecting to WiFi it says "5G WiFi is not supported".

In the MiHom application, Russia and other regions have been sorted out. Home TVs, tablets and other devices have been working with WiFi for a long time and without interruption. Thanks!

Answer

It is bad, of course, that you did not attach screenshots from the application and did not write how you manually hook it and where (at what specific stage) the error "5G WiFi is not supported" appears. I don't have such a vacuum cleaner, and have never set them up.

As far as I understand, the algorithm for connecting and configuring the robot vacuum cleaner is as follows:

  1. On the vacuum cleaner, you need to activate the connection mode. Press and hold two buttons, or the power button. To make the indicator blink. How exactly on Xiaomi Mi Roborock Sweep One S50 - I don't know. The instructions should show.
  2. In connection mode, the robot vacuum cleaner distributes WI-FI. Connect to this network from your iPad.
  3. In the MiHom app, select add a new device.
  4. The Xiaomi Mi Roborock Sweep One S50 vacuum cleaner should appear there. Then the setup process will go. The first step is to select your WI-FI network in the application (from ASUS RT-N11P) and enter the password correctly so that the vacuum cleaner connects to the router.
  5. After setting up, the vacuum cleaner will stop distributing WI-FI, and you will connect the smartphone to your home network. Communication will be through a router.

I don't understand the error "5G WiFi is not supported". I don't think (although it is possible) that the Xiaomi Mi Roborock Sweep One S50 only connects to the 5GHz network. Which ASUS RT-N11P cannot distribute. I don’t know which iPad you have. If the old one, then it does not support 5G WiFi. This is the problem.

I look forward to your reply in the comments.

Update

Judging from the comments on this post, the problem with connecting and setting up Xiaomi robotic vacuum cleaners is very popular. Unfortunately, I cannot give any specific advice and solutions for the reason that I do not have this device and there is no way to check everything myself.

In the comments below, many visitors to our site have shared solutions that helped them solve the problem with connecting the Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner to Wi-Fi via the Mi Home app. Usually an error appears "Bring your phone closer to the router" (Network connection timed out).

When the "Connected" and "Message sent to the device" items are successful, and next to "Network connection time has expired" there is a red cross.

Some solutions:

  1. If specifically your model of the Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner was released for the Chinese market (this can be understood by the inscriptions on the box and the device itself, everything is in Chinese), then it is very difficult to add it to the application. It seems like the problem is solved by changing the region in the application to "China" (try it). But this does not always work. There is information that in this case, the Chinese time zone must be set on the phone. Ate all the inscriptions in English - for European countries (we set one of the European countries in the settings). If all the inscriptions are in Russian, then the region is Russia.
  2. Make sure that in the process of setting up the robot vacuum cleaner, you correctly enter the password for the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect the vacuum cleaner.
  3. Your phone must have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.
  4. During the setup process, place the vacuum cleaner and the phone (from which you are setting up) not far from the router (to whose Wi-Fi network you will connect the robot vacuum cleaner).
  5. If it didn't work the first time, try again. Perhaps the problem is on the side of Xiaomi servers.
  6. Tip from the comments: In the app settings, enable all permissions.
  7. Complete reset of the robot vacuum cleaner.
  8. The name of your main Wi-Fi network should be without special characters and specified only in English letters.
  9. If you cannot set up from an iOS device (iPhone, iPad), then try setting up from an Android device.

Update

In the comments, Eugene shared another solution.

The name of the Wi-Fi network and the password for this network should not contain special characters. Only letters and numbers. If you are unable to connect your Roborock Sweep One S50 to a Wi-Fi network, then check the network name (SSID) and password.
