The other day I encountered the error "This site cannot provide a secure connection" in the Opera browser. In the process of solving this error, I learned a lot of interesting information. By trying different options, I still managed to remove this error. I want to say right away that this problem is very controversial. In the sense that it can appear in different browsers (Yandex Browser, Opera, Google Chrome, Mozilla, Edge), when trying to open different sites (including Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, etc.), and the solutions can be very different ...

In my case, I saw the error "This site cannot provide a secure connection" when I tried to go to a popular and definitely secure site. There was also a message in the Opera that such and such a site sent an invalid response.

I think okay. Opened Google Chrome, typed in the address of the same site. And Chrome also gave me a message that the site could not provide a secure connection. And I also added an error code: "ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR".

They open Yandex Browser, go to the same address, and again the error:

In Mozilla, the error looks a little different: "Error establishing a secure connection", "SSL_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED_ALERT". But the essence is the same.

The first thing that comes to mind is problems on the side of the site. But after a while, the site still did not open. And I was almost sure that it works and the problems are on my side. Moreover, just a few days ago this site opened without any problems.

Articles on solving similar problems:

There are often times when a particular site does not open in only one browser, but works fine in others.

How I fixed the error and disabled it in Opera, Chrome and other browsers

First, I'll write about the method that helped me personally.

1In my case, the Dr.Web anti-virus (license) was to blame. Usually, when the firewall built into Dr.Web (SpIDer Gate) blocks a site, a message appears from the antivirus itself, and everything is immediately clear. In this case, the browser gave an error about the impossibility of providing a secure connection. And I could not even think that it was Dr.Web who was to blame.

As soon as I turned off the firewall built into the antivirus, aka SpIDer Gate, the error in the browser disappeared. The site opened without problems in all browsers.

Then I just added the site to the Dr.Web exceptions.

Here is the solution in my case. But still, it seems to me that the problem may be on the site. They have something with an SSL certificate. But these are my guesses.

You may of course have a different antivirus installed. But there is definitely an opportunity to temporarily disable the built-in firewall, or completely disable protection.

2I saw a lot of tips on the Internet to check the date on a computer, tablet, smartphone. On the device where the error appears. Yes, indeed, this problem may arise due to an incorrectly set date or time.

And this error can also appear on mobile devices (Android, iOS), and mainly due to the time and date settings.

3You can also try clearing the cache and cookies in the browser. Especially if the error appears in one specific browser. How to do this in the Opera browser, I wrote in the article: https://help-wifi.com/programmy-brauzery/kak-ochistit-istoriyu-kesh-kuki-brauzera-opera/. In other browsers, this can be done without problems in the settings. Or clean everything with CCleaner. 4 If possible, try opening the same site from another device. So we can understand what the problems are: on the site side, or on your device.

How did you disable this error, which method helped you? If you have any useful information on this topic - write in the comments. Ask questions.
