I bought an asus rog z270g gaming motherboard, it comes with a Wi-Fi module, the so-called WI-FI Go! The driver model is sort of like the Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A Wireless Network Adapter, of course there was a disk in the box, but I don't have a sidir. In search of the Internet I searched how to configure .. But I did not find anything sensible. I have a question, is this router, if you can call it that, can I use it like a normal one? If so, you can describe the entire technology, how to connect, configure, etc. Thanks.

Answer

I myself have WI-FI Go! did not use, do not know her. But I heard about her. There are many possibilities:

  • You can organize a Wi-Fi hotspot. This is what you asked above. This adapter can act as a router. That is, to distribute the Internet to other devices. But this is nothing special. Basically, you can share Wi-Fi from every computer with a regular Wi-Fi adapter or laptop.
  • Via WI-FI Go! you can control the computer from a smartphone or tablet. Use your mobile device as a remote control. On the same tablet, you can see the remote desktop of the computer. Or use your mobile device as a remote keyboard, or touchpad.
  • The next useful feature is the DLNA server. You can transfer movies, photos and music to different devices on the network. On TVs and mobile devices.
  • Quickly exchange files between your computer with WI-FI Go! and mobile devices.

As far as I understand, you need to install the Wi-Fi GO! on computer. You can download it from the ASUS website, on the page with drivers for your motherboard. It looks something like this:

And "Wi-Fi GO! Remote" is installed on mobile devices.

More information on setting up WI-FI Go! available on the official ASUS website: https://www.asus.com/UA/support/FAQ/1012149
