TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT adapter kit is designed to create a PowerLine network. This means that with the help of these two adapters, you can organize an Ethernet network in your home or office without the need to lay new cables. Everything works according to the usual electrical wiring. As a result, we can connect to the Internet from any room, through a regular outlet. The AV500 inscription, which can be seen in the description or on the box, indicates that these adapters can operate at speeds up to 500 Mbps.

Interesting, right? How HomePlug AV technology and the PowerLine adapters themselves work, I wrote in this article.

If you have already purchased these adapters, or are just going to, then you will be interested in looking at the instructions for configuring them: configuring the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT PowerLine adapters.

TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT is a set of adapters. It includes two devices:

  • TL-PA4010 - a small adapter that plugs into a power outlet, and the Internet is connected to it from a modem or router. This Nano adapter distributes the internet over the mains.
  • TL-WPA4220 - it is already larger, and serves to connect devices to the Internet from an outlet. We plug it into a regular outlet, it connects to the TL-PA4010, and distributes the Internet via cable and Wi-Fi. Also, it can work as a Wi-Fi network repeater, while receiving the Internet via the power grid.

The devices work just fine. The setup takes a couple of minutes. If you do not have the opportunity to lay network cables, but you need to set up a stable network in order to distribute the Internet to many devices, then these PowerLine adapters are a very good option. True, the work of HomePlug AV networks has its own nuances, you can familiarize yourself with them in the articles, links to which I gave above.

TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT Review

As I wrote above, the kit includes two adapters. TL-PA4010 - small, made of white and gray glossy plastic. Looks stylish, very well assembled. On the sides there are grilles for better cooling of the adapter.

On the front side you can see three indicators, and a "Pair" button to establish a secure connection between the adapters. Below is 1 RJ-45 connector.

The second adapter TL-WPA4220 is also made of white plastic. There are cooling holes on the sides. On the front side there are four indicators (power, PowerLine network operation, LAN and Wi-Fi network indicator). And the "Wi-Fi Clone" button, which is designed to disable / enable Wi-Fi, and quickly configure the Wi-Fi network expansion.

There are two RJ-45 connectors at the bottom for connecting computers, TVs, and other devices to the Internet. "Pair" button, and a "Reset" button recessed into the body to reset the settings.

The set with the adapters comes with a network cable, two meters long. Setup instructions (available in Russian), and a disk with the necessary utilities and instructions.

Opinions from the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT

I looked on the forums, in online stores, what people write about this kit, there are very few reviews. This is not strange. The devices, and the technology itself, is not very popular.

I have not found any bad reviews. Basically, everyone is happy with the work of the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT, and the PowerLine network itself. Everything is customizable without problems. There is no need to pull any cables, drill walls, disassemble skirting boards, etc. There are problems with a drop in speed when some serious electrical appliances are plugged into the outlet. But, this is already a feature of the PowerLine technology.

And as usual, everything is individual. Basically, it all depends on the quality of the wiring in your home: on the quality of the cables, connections, layout, etc.

I really liked the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT kit itself, did not find any flaws at all. What do you say, what will be your review?
