Good afternoon. If you have a new firmware installed on your TP-Link TL-WR942N with a new control panel (as in the screenshot below), then there is an option to configure OpenVPN. All settings can be configured on one tab, which is located in the "Advanced Settings" - "VPN Server" - "OpenVPN" section.

Now there is no way to write more detailed instructions for setting up OpenVPN on a TP-Link router, but everything is in Russian, I think you already have the data for setting. In addition, the configuration file can be exported there. Many VPN services issue these configuration files.
And on the "VPN connections" tab, you can view information about active VPN connections. Including OpenVPN.
