Since this problem is not very common. Yes, and I have not noticed such a problem. Maybe it depends on the headphones (some are sensitive to the Wi-Fi signal, and some are not).
The moment the Wi-Fi indicator lights up on the router, data is being transferred. And at this moment there is a squeak and other noise in the headphones.
What can be done in your case:
- Move the router away from the computer. My guess is that this is not possible due to the PC connected by cable. For testing, you can move the router as far away as possible. If there is no interference in the headphones, then buy a longer network cable for the PC, or a Wi-Fi receiver.
- Disable broadcasting of the Wi-Fi network. To prevent the router from distributing the wireless network. If you don't need it (judging by the fact that there used to be a modem without Wi-Fi).
- Try other headphones. Maybe you have some very sensitive specimen. It is possible that other headphones will not react in this way to interference from the router.
