Most often, it becomes necessary to forget the Wi-Fi network if there are any problems with connecting to this network, or so that the computer does not automatically connect to a specific wireless network. True, the second problem can be solved by another method. Just uncheck the "Auto Connect" box next to the required network in the Mac OS settings. In this article I will show you how to do this.
I will show using the example of a MacBook Air that runs on macOS Mojave. The newest (at the time of this writing) operating system from Apple. All this is done very simply, but oddly enough, forgetting the Wi-Fi network on Windows 10 is easier than on Mac OS 🙂
Open "System Preferences".
Go to the "Network" section.
Further on the left, select the "Wi-Fi" item and click on the "Advanced" button.
A window will appear listing the Wi-Fi networks your Mac has connected to. If you just want to prohibit automatic connection to a Wi-Fi network, then just uncheck the "Auto connect" checkbox opposite it. The network itself can not be "forgotten" so that, if necessary, you can quickly connect to it without re-entering the password. You can also move the saved wireless networks and place them in your preferred order. So that, for example, the MacBook first tries to connect to the network that is first on the list. If it is not available, the connection will be made to the second network in the list, and so on.
