Good afternoon! I want to reduce internet costs and connect the network. We have two apartments in adjacent entrances on the 5th and 6th floors, in the 1st there is Zyxel Keenetic Giga II in the 2nd Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Router 3, each has a wire to the kitchen. So the question is what, I want to put the same cheap routers like Tenda N301 or Tenda F3 in kitchens, they will be in line of sight 22-23m. the network should be the same for both apartments, and not just the Internet, it would be possible to run a wire between the kitchens and replace the xiaomi router with a switch and not fooled, and so far I don’t understand how to set up a wire-router-air-router-wire scheme.

Answer

Good afternoon. Let's try to figure it out. You have not written which router the Internet will be connected to. Let the Internet be connected to the Zyxel Keenetic Giga II. From Zyxel Keenetic, via the LAN port, connect the cable to Tenda F3 (for example), and configure Tenda in access point mode. If I'm not mistaken, there is such a mode in the settings. It turns out that Tenda F3 distributes the Internet over Wi-Fi to which we can hook up another Tenda.

The second router seems to me to be configured in repeater mode. You can also try client mode, but in this case, I don't know how it will turn out there with IP addresses, and whether all devices will be on the same network. Connect the cable from the second router (LAN) to the Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Router 3 to the WAN port. Or on a LAN, and use the router as an access point.

Everything needs to be checked, since the scheme is not simple, and it is difficult to plan everything in the mind like this. Especially to have one local network.

And as for the stability of such a network, there may be problems. Especially when using such inexpensive routers.
