D-Link router as Wi-Fi adapter for Samsung TV. Why doesn't DLNA over Wi-Fi work from laptop and phone?

Good afternoon! I'll start with a description of all devices and their connection. A laptop connected via Wi-Fi to a Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3 router, which operates in the "main" mode, receiving an Internet signal through the provider's wire.

The second D-Link DIR 615 router (used as the main one before the acquisition of Zyxel), reconfigured it to work "Client" and connected it to the main Wi-Fi network, and then connected it via the LAN port to the Samsung LED UE32D6100S TV with Smart TV function (i.e. (since this TV simply does not have built-in Wi-Fi).

As a result, the TV is connected to the Internet, Smart TV is working. Now to my problem - I can't make a DLNA connection, I thought I'd tinker with ip-addresses, but in the end I can't even see the ip address on the computer, I get a sign with the following inscription: "To configure TCP / IP, you need to install and configure a network adapter" As a result, I was left at a dead end.

As a result, there are several questions in which I hope to receive help and advice from you:

  1. Can D-Link DIR 615 be configured so that it works not only as a receiver, but as a signal transceiver to connect to a TV, for example, from a phone or tablet (Like a proprietary USB Wi-Fi router for a SAMSUNG TV)?
  2. How to set up DLNA in this scheme so that you can watch movies, series, etc. shared on a laptop from the TV? (AllShare function simply reports that there is no connected device).

P.S. At the same time, on the TV, through Menu> Network> AllShare Settings> Multimedia on> "list of visible devices" - my phone is visible, with its own name, but the phone does not detect any additional available connections. Attached photos.

Thanks in advance!

Answer

Good afternoon. Thanks for the detailed description and photo.

As far as I understand, the task is that from a laptop and a phone that are connected to the Wi-Fi network of the Zyxel Keenetic Lite 3 router, you can broadcast photos, videos and music to a Samsung TV. Right?

DLNA connection works between devices that are on the same local network. Since your TV is connected to the network through a D-Link DIR 615 router, which works as a Wi-Fi network receiver for a Samsung TV, a DHCP server is most likely running on the D-Link DIR 615, which gives the TV its IP address. Judging by the "gateway" settings - 192.168.0.1.

And you need the IP address to be issued by the main Zyxel Keenetic router, to which other devices are connected. Then the laptop, smartphone and TV will be on the same network. Zyxel Keenetic has a "gateway" most likely 192.168.1.1.

So, on D-Link DIR 615, most likely you just need to turn off the DHCP server. I do not know what firmware is on your DIR 615. I wrote about setting up different operating modes on D-Link in the article: "Client", "Bridge" and "Repeater" mode on a D-LINK router.

For starters, try to simply disable the DHCP server in the D-Link settings. Save settings, restart the router and TV. This should solve both of your problems.
