I have a PC, a Zyxel Keenetic Lite III router, and a TP-LINK TL WN722N Adapter, At the back of the router there is a lever that switches the operating modes, Modes are: Main, Adapter, Amplifier, Access Point, only the provider's ethernet cable is connected to the router, in PC adapter is inserted, in what mode should my router work for correct configuration and correct operation?

Answer

When connecting a cable from the provider to the router, it should work in the "Main"... This means that all router services are running. A few words about other modes:

  • Adapter - in this mode, you can use a router to connect different devices to the Internet via a network cable. The Zyxel Keenetic router will receive the Internet via Wi-Fi and transmit it to the device via cable. I wrote more about this here.
  • Amplifier - in this mode, the router can amplify the signal of an existing Wi-Fi network. Read more in the article: https://help-wifi.com/zyxel/nastrojka-zyxel-keenetic-v-rezhime-repitera-wi-fi-klienta-ispolzuem-router-kak-tochku-dostupa/
  • Access point - extension of an existing Wi-Fi network, but when connected to the main router not via Wi-Fi but via a network cable. You can read in more detail on configuring routers in access point mode.

I think I was able to answer your question.
