Hello.

The house on the 1st floor: includes an Internet cable-> converter-> Homeplug access point->

2nd floor: homeplug-> router zyxel-> there are also homeplug in the rooms to watch Internet TV through set-top boxes.

The router does not cover the first floor, only one room. The question is: what is the best way to build a network? Will the repeater help me distribute the Internet to the first floor or do I need another router.

Thanks.

Answer

Hello. Yeah, your Zyxel doesn't cover the first floor? And I think you have another router there, or HomePlug is distributing Wi-Fi.

I think we can put a repeater on the ground floor. If at least one room has a stable signal. I think in the room under the router on the second floor.

Or the second option: if you have the Internet connected to the power grid through HomePlug, you can turn on another HomePlug on the ground floor with the function of distributing a Wi-Fi network.

You can also put another router on the first floor. If you need one Wi-Fi network, then you need to set exactly the same Wi-Fi settings on it as on Zyxel, which is on the second floor. But it is very difficult to guarantee the stable operation of such a network. Here you are already as lucky.

I'm for a repeater. Provided that on the ground floor there is a stable signal in a certain place where a repeater can be installed.
