Low internet speed on SMART TV LG 32LJ600U (compared to other devices)

Sergey, hello!

To solve the problem, we connect all devices to the router through a wire. The router is standard from Rostelecom. Speedtest.net in the TV browser shows 10-12 Mbps (the provider gives 60 Mbps). It could be assumed that somewhere the twisted pair and (or) the Router were to blame. But then why do I immediately take the wire and connect it to the Netbook and the Speedtest speed is no lower than 30 Mbps?

In turn, why does the Netbook have a speed of 30 Mbps? I checked it on another system unit, it gives out at least 70 Mbit (and sometimes 90). The netbook was tested in two apartments with the same tariff plan.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Answer

Hello. It seems to me that this is not a problem, but a feature of devices, software, etc.

The connection speed can vary greatly depending on the performance of the network adapter and the rest of the hardware. This is when you compare a netbook and a desktop computer. Also, the speed can be affected by the system itself, installed programs, running processes, some kind of network settings, etc. Perhaps, for your netbook, 30 Mbps is the maximum that it can.

The story is exactly the same with LG TV. Only there it is even more difficult. The SMART TV system is closed, there are practically no settings. And besides, maybe at the time of measuring the speed, the TV loads something in parallel. Or other devices. This also affects the connection speed. All I can advise is to update the TV's firmware.

And on a netbook, you can try experimenting with the settings of the network card. For example, in the device manager, in the properties of the network card, set "100 Mbps Full Duplex" (or another option) for the "speed & duplex" parameter.

I can't guarantee that this will increase the speed, but you can try.
