Huawei has many different 3G / 4G modems and mobile Wi-Fi routers. They are sold as separate devices into which you can insert a SIM card of any operator and configure the modem to distribute the Internet. Or as devices for connecting to the Internet from operators MTS, Beeline, Megafon, Intertelecom, etc. In any case, users often need to enter the system (personal account) of the Huawei modem. This can be done using the standard IP address192.168.8.1which is used to enter the settings of Huawei 3G / 4G modems.
Using the address 192.168.8.1, you can open the page with the settings of the Huawei E8372h, EC315, 3372h, E3531, E8231w, K5005, E3276, E1550, AF23, E3372 modems, etc. This address is also used to access the personal account of Huawei mobile 3G / 4G routers E5573, E5577s, EC 5321u and other models. Well, modems from Beeline 4G, Megafon 4G (for example, M150-2), and MTS 4G (829F, 827F).
The instruction is suitable for all Huawei modems with firmware HiLink... Only on a modem with HiLink firmware at 192.168.8.1, you can open the web interface of the modem (mobile router). These modems come with two firmwares: HiLink or Stick. Only HiLink firmware has a web interface with modem settings.
If we buy a modem or a mobile Wi-Fi router from a certain operator, then most likely after connecting it to a computer, it will automatically start distributing the Internet and nothing needs to be configured. But if we have a regular modem (not locked) and we ourselves insert a SIM card into it, then we may have to configure the connection (set parameters for our operator). In any case, for Huawei modems with a Wi-Fi distribution function, you need to go to the settings to change, or set a password for Wi-Fi and change the name of the wireless network. This is optional, but desirable.
How to open Huawei modem settings?
First you need to connect your modem to your computer. If you have a regular USB modem, for example Huawei E3372, then just plug it into the USB port of your laptop or desktop computer.
A mobile Wi-Fi router can usually also be connected to a computer via a USB cable.
When the modem is connected to a computer via a cable, it is defined as a virtual network card (RNDIS adapter).
If you have a modem with a Wi-Fi distribution function (mobile router), then you can connect to it via a Wi-Fi network. Not only from a PC (via a Wi-Fi adapter), or a laptop, but also from a tablet or phone. The factory network name (SSID) and password (Key) are usually indicated under the cover of the Huawei modem itself.
After the first connection of the modem to the computer via cable, you will most likely need to install the drivers. In most cases, it is sufficient to complete the installation in the window that appears immediately after connecting the modem.
Most likely, after that, the browser will automatically open, the page will be loaded athttp://192.168.8.1 and you will see the home page of the modem. It looks something like this:

How to log into 192.168.8.1?
Connect Huawei modem via cable, or via Wi-Fi. Open any browser. It is advisable to use a browser that you do not use every day. There are usually no add-ons that can prevent us from opening the modem settings page. In the address bar of the browser, type the address http://192.168.8.1 and go over it.
Please note that on some modems / mobile routers, the factory address may be 192.168.1.1
The page with the modem settings should load. If this does not happen, you can reset your Huawei modem.
The main page displays information about the Internet connection, the signal strength of the 3G / 4G network, and access to other settings and modem functions.
Depending on the device (modem without / with Wi-Fi), model, mobile operator (Beeline, MTS, Megafon, etc.) - your personal account (settings page) may differ slightly. Menu items and settings may be missing.
If you have a Huawei modem without Wi-Fi, then you can easily go to any section: Statistics, SMS, USSD, Settings, etc. Well, if you have a modem with the ability to distribute Wi-Fi, then without entering a username and password will be only the main page is displayed. And if you try to enter the settings, or to another section, the "Login" window will appear asking for a username and password. Usually, the factory username and password on Huawei Wi-Fi modems is admin and admin.
The factory password can then be changed in the settings, in the "System" - "Change password" section.
Modem configuration
We have already figured out that the tab "Home" displays basic information about your internet connection. There you can also change the language of the settings page at the top.
In the tab "Statistics" you can view information about internet traffic.
In chapter "SMS" you can view your incoming messages and send a text message if necessary. Or open the SMS settings.
The next tab is "Contacts", where you can view the stored numbers.
Further along the course is a useful section "USSD"... From there, you can execute USSD commands. For example, to check the account, the number of remaining megabytes, connect packages, tariffs, etc.
Next are the main "Settings"... First of all it is "Mobile connection"... You can turn off or turn on mobile data, control data roaming, and set an auto-off interval.
In chapter "Profile Management" select an Internet connection profile for our operator. Usually there are 1-2 profiles. Or create a new profile manually and register a username, password and access point.
"Network configuration" - you can set the network operation mode: GSM (2G), UMTS (3G), LTE (4G), or mixed modes. These settings can come in handy when tuning an antenna, or an unstable connection.
In chapter "Safety" there is nothing interesting. Another page may come in handy when setting up "System" – "Device Information"... There you can see the signal and noise levels. And already be guided by these indicators when setting up the modem itself, or the antenna.
If you have a model that works not only as a USB modem, but also distributes Wi-Fi, then in your Huawei personal account there will also be Wi-Fi network (WLAN) settings. There you can turn off Wi-Fi, change the network name, and change the password to Wi-Fi (key).
It is very difficult to write such instructions, since there are a lot of devices themselves, and they all differ from each other. Someone has an unlocked modem with a SIM card of the same Megafon, and someone has a modem from MTS. With and without Wi-Fi. Various models and firmware.
