Hello! Internet via USB modem from beeline. After changing the modem from D-link DIR-620 to Zexel Keenetic 4G III, the problem began to appear. Signal is constantly lost. A laptop, smartphone and tablet are connected to the router. Loss of communication is synchronous on all devices. Several times an hour. It connects after a minute or two.

We live in the countryside. Nearby there is only 1 router from a neighbor at a distance of 60-70 m. During the loss on the laptop, everything is ok in the notification panel. The connection is connected. Internet access. There is no wi-fi response on gadgets. The channel was changed from auto to 1, 6.11. The update is automatically installed and up to date. What can you advise? With d-link this was not observed.

Answer

Hello. I read your question several times, but I still haven't found a clue that would allow me to determine exactly what is happening there. The fact is that cliffs are usually of two types:

  1. When the router, in our case the Zexel Keenetic 4G III, normally distributes the Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi indicator is on / blinking, all devices are connected to the Wi-Fi network, but the Internet does not work. Disconnecting access to the Internet, not Wi-Fi. These are two different things.
  2. When devices at a certain point stop seeing the router's Wi-Fi network at all. That is, the problem is precisely with the connection to the network, and not with the access to the Internet.

In the first case, the reason may be an unstable Internet connection. Using a USB modem is not uncommon. Since everything worked stably on the old D-link DIR-620 router, the reason in the modem and the operator, I think, can be excluded. This means that Zexel Keenetic 4G III for some reason (possibly a hardware reason) loses its connection to the Internet and distributes a Wi-Fi network without access to the Internet. I don't think there is any way to solve this with the settings. It is necessary to study everything in more detail. See what happens there in the Zexel Keenetic control panel at the time of the break.

If you have the second case (which is unlikely), then here you can experiment with the Wi-Fi settings. For example, change the channel width. But I think that the reason is still in the hardware of the router.
