Good afternoon.

Please enlighten. I bought a new smartphone Meizu 15 Flame firmware version 7.0.2.0RU. I was going to connect it to the Asus RT-N10PV2 home router and, as usual, did not find the password.

After reading the recommendations on your site, I climbed into its settings through the computer. and in the "WPA-PSK Key" window, as well as in the "WPA Presidential Key" window, I found it. However, when it is maintained in a smartphone, the connection does not occur. At work, I have two more routers (in different rooms) and there the connection was made without problems.

In the settings of the smartphone in the "status" section, I discovered that it already has an IP address and for some reason is changing. And also the MAC address - it is permanent.

In this regard, several questions:

  1. Did I find the password for the router correctly?
  2. Is it possible to manually register an IP address bypassing DHCP in the settings of the router in the "Local network - DHCP server" section?
  3. Do I have to register both the IP and MAC addresses of all devices connected to this router? And which of the IP addresses of my smartphone should I specify? The one he has at the moment. However, not one of them falls into the range of IP addresses that are specified in the router settings?

* I did not dare to change the password for the router, tk. in this case, I am a complete amateur, and I'm afraid that something is wrong to press and ruin everything.

Sincerely, Mikhail.

Answer

Hello. Let's go in order. Yes, the password in the router settings is in the "WPA-PSK Key" and "WPA Preshared Key" fields.

Yes, you can reserve an IP address for your smartphone. Bind it to the MAC address of your smartphone. But why? Do you have a DHCP server enabled on your router? Do the rest of the devices automatically get IP addresses? This means that Meizu should also connect automatically, without setting up IP addresses, etc.

Do not change the IP settings. What is the specific error when connecting Meizu to a Wi-Fi network? How is the connection process going? If you can see the status of the WI-FI network, then maybe the smartphone is still connected to the network and there is simply no access to the Internet?

Please clarify this information in the comments. Let's try to find out what could be the reason.
