Status "Connection interrupted" and "Connected voice" near Bluetooth headphones in Windows 10

Quite often I use JBL T450BT headphones as the main headset for my phone and laptop. Today, when I decided to work on my laptop, I decided to plug in the headphones and listen to music, but the sound was either very bad or not at all. All this time he wrote that only the voice was connected.

Connecting them to the phone is the same story, only there was no sound at all.

Reading the answers to previously asked questions about the connection of "headphones" and "headphone" I wondered why it shows that the "headphones" are disconnected.

I hope that I have explained everything clearly enough that you can help me.

Thanks in advance.

Answer

Not everything about your problem is clear, but let's try to figure it out. Perhaps, in the process of checking the settings and clarifying all the nuances, it will be possible to solve the problem with connecting your JBL Bluetooth headphones to Windows 10. Which in your sound settings for some reason are displayed with the "Connection interrupted" status.

This solution can be applied to all Bluetooth headphones and speakers if the sound does not work through them and the symptoms are the same as those of the author of the question. I think it will come in handy for many.

To make everything immediately clear, we look at the Bluetooth headphone settings (their connection status) in two places (in the system settings, in your case Windows 10):

  1. In the sound control panel (this is it in your screenshot above).
  2. In the Bluetooth settings (where the status "Connected voice, music", "Connected voice", "Connected music" is displayed).

An important point: when we connect Bluetooth headphones with a microphone to Windows 10, the system sees them as two devices:

  1. Headphones (Stereo). They are also "Connected Music". This is the device through which Windows outputs high quality stereo sound. In this mode, the microphone on the headphones cannot be used by the system.
  2. Headset (Hands-Free AG Audio). He is "Connected Voice". The microphone can work in this mode, but the sound in the headphones will be of poor quality (mono). I already wrote about this in the article bad sound in Bluetooth headphones on a computer or laptop.

Each of these devices can be disconnected and disabled in the settings. The Audio Receiver service (stereo audio output, A2DP profile), or Wireless Telephony service may be disabled. After that, either only "Headphones" or "Headphone" will remain in the system. Accordingly, either the microphone will not work, or high-quality stereo sound will not be output. Or there will be no sound from the headphones at all. I already wrote about the solution to this problem: Bluetooth headphones do not reproduce sound from a laptop. Not displayed on Windows playback devices.

I tried to check and understand everything on my computer. This means that in the sound settings "Connection interrupted" can be in two cases: when the headphones are not connected to the computer at all and when they are disconnected (these are different things). I think you have them connected.

When the status is "Connected voice" and there is no sound, or it is of poor quality

You kind of wrote that you had the "Connected voice" status near the headphones.

Solution # 1

In this case, you need to try to connect Bluetooth headphones in the sound settings, next to which it says "Connection interrupted".

After that, they should work ("Ready" status) and you need to make Bluetooth headphones the default audio output device.

After that, the headphones should reproduce clear and high-quality sound.

Solution # 2

If next to the name of your headphones says "Disabled", then try to turn them on.

And then select "Use as default".

Solution # 3

The Audio Receiver service may have been disabled in the properties of the wireless headphones. In this case, they usually do not appear in the sound settings at all. As you can see, there is only a "Headset".

We need to check the services. To do this, open the window at Control Panel Hardware and Sound Devices and printers. You can do this:

Next, open the properties of the headphones and on the "Services" tab and check the box next to "Audio receiver". Click "Apply".

You can also try disabling the "Wireless Telephony" service. If you want quality sound and don't need a microphone.

When the status is "Connected Music" and the microphone does not work (Headphone)

It looks like this:

The "Headset" can be Disconnected / Enabled, or Disconnected / Connected in the sound control panel in the same way.

For the operation of the "Headset" (microphone) in Windows 10, the "Wireless Telephony" service is responsible.

If you disable it, the system will not see the microphone on your Bluetooth headphones.
