Today I will talk about a router that is able to cope with any tasks and loads. Provide a stable and fast internet connection for a large number of different devices. Very powerful and productive - TP-Link Archer C4000. This is not the top model, but it is fast and functional enough. Of course, not everyone needs such a router. If you connect multiple devices to the network and perform some of the most common tasks (browsing sites, videos, downloading files), then you can buy a cheaper router that will work great and fulfill its functions. But it's not uncommon for me to watch people buy expensive Smart TVs, game consoles, computers, and a $ 20 router. They hang all this technique on a budget router and complain that nothing really works. All the time something falls off, freezes, ping increases, etc., since the router simply cannot cope with the load. Many people think that there is no difference between a $ 20 and $ 200 router. But it does exist, and it is very large. And first of all, this is manifested precisely in performance, connection speed, network stability.

Back to TP-Link Archer C4000. This is a tri-band router with support for MU-MIMO technology and of course gigabit ports. It is built on the basis of a very powerful processor and is stuffed with different technologies and functions. Since I myself use the TP-Link Archer C3150 ver.2 router, which is very similar in price and performance to the TP-Link Archer C4000, I can say with confidence that this router is able to cope with any tasks. Simultaneous launch of online games on PlayStation and PC, watching videos on Smart TV, downloading torrents and simpler tasks on mobile devices do not affect the operation of the router at all. The network is stable and fast. I don't know what to do and how many devices to connect to load this router. At home, this is almost impossible to do.

Archer C4000 specifications and functionality

The router is powered by a 64-bit, quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz! Built-in memory 512 MB.

Let's take a closer look at the characteristics of the wireless network. As I wrote above, Archer C4000 distributes a Wi-Fi network in three bands. Two Wi-Fi networks in the 5 GHz range and one network in the 2.4 5 GHz range. Each 5 GHz network delivers up to 1625 Mbps. And in the range 2.4 5 GHz up to 750 Mbps. That being said, you don't need to think about which network to connect your device to. The router will automatically distribute devices to maximize performance. There is support for MU-MIMO, which allows the router to exchange information with devices not in turn, but simultaneously with several devices. Faster and smoother wireless performance is achieved with NitroQAM, Smart Connect and Airtime Fairness technologies.

Range Boost and Beamforming technologies are responsible for wide coverage and stability of the wireless network. The first helps to increase the coverage of the network, and the second to direct the signal towards devices (clients). The router has 6 external antennas. They are not removable.

1 WAN port and 4 LAN ports are gigabit. There is support for the link aggregation function. When you can combine two LAN ports and get speeds up to 2 Gb / s. May come in handy when connecting a NAS (network attached storage).

Two USB ports (one of which is USB 3.0 standard) can be used to connect network storage devices (flash drives and external hard drives) and organize file sharing from a local network or via the Internet. There is Time Machine support for setting up backups from Mac computers. There is no support for USB modems. As well as there is no function of offline downloading of files to the drive.

Other features and capabilities:

  • HomeCare - Antivirus, parental control and data prioritization. Function for network security and access settings for different devices.
  • TP-Link Cloud (Cloud TP-Link) - talked about this function in the article remote control of the TP-Link router (via the Internet).
  • Guest Wi-Fi network.
  • IPTV support (IGMP Proxy / Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN).
  • Configuring and managing TP-Link Archer C4000 from mobile devices via the Tether app.
  • Airtime Fairness and Smart Connect.
  • VPN server.
  • Multilingual web interface.

There is everything you need. The new web interface is very easy to navigate through the settings.

In addition, there is Russian and Ukrainian.

TP-Link Archer C4000 appearance

Let's start with the packaging that the Archer C4000 comes in.

Inside is another white box, in which the router itself, a large power supply (12V, 3300mA), a network cable and instructions are already securely packed.

In the process of writing the review, I caught myself thinking that I want to twist the Archer C4000 in my hands, examine, unfold and fold these antennas. The entire body of the router is made of black matte plastic. Dense, high quality plastic. No fingerprints or scratches are visible on it. Everything is very well put together. There are many holes at the top and bottom of the case for cooling the board. Above is the TP-Link logo and six antennas that fold out.

On the front face you can see indicators (lit in blue) and three buttons: to turn off Wi-Fi, activate WPS and turn off the indicators. The buttons are very cool. In the sense that accidentally pressing them is almost impossible. For this you need to make a little effort. Well, it's convenient that they are in the front, and not in the back, as usual.

And another photo:

All ports and connectors are located on the back of the router. Connector for power adapter, 4 LAN ports, 1 WAN and 2 USB. As well as the Power On / Off and Reset buttons.

If necessary, Archer C4000 can be hung on the wall, there are the necessary holes at the bottom.

I really liked the look. Stylish, high quality and well thought-out case. You take it in your hands, and all the power of this device is immediately felt.

If you have a lot of different devices that need a fast and stable internet connection, TP-Link Archer C4000 is an excellent choice. Especially if you play online games, watch online videos in high definition, there is a need to download large files, etc. This router will provide a stable connection for every device. It is also perfect for office installations.
