I am almost sure that I was not alone with this problem, but there is no solution to it anywhere, because everywhere there is no information on the specifics of using the mesh system - there is only installation and general principles.

And the situation and the problem is this: we installed a seamless Wi-Fi system using a router, a router, two meshes and why a paverline (this is what the Internet conducts through the sockets). Routers and meshes - bought with money - Amplifi ubiquiti. They are excellent on their own, and seriously the only ones capable of pulling over 50 Mbps.

BUT! There is one problem with mesh networks that no one talks about or discusses - automatic switching between points. Yes, a necessary feature - but for some reason, when necessary, it works in the opposite direction. Namely - I made myself in quarantine using a laptop an office in the next room from the main router. And now imagine, you are on the first floor, in the next room there is a router for 30K ............... and the laptop is connected to the powerline on the second floor .... At least burst, he loves it, live can’t live without it.
I cut off the powerline from the socket, and oops - the Internet speed flies again. BUT even here not the whole problem was solved.

I went to try to turn off the mesh, which, in theory, works for us on the street, and stands on the balcony. Disconnect. And OP! The speedtest shows the well-deserved 60 Mbps, for which I paid money.

That is - the laptop has chosen the most powerful connection as the lowest priority on the network. That's really, first to the fact that it gave out 2 Mbit, then 25 - and only after turning them off, it switches to the one where 60. Moreover, if I connect them back, it does the same thing - it switches to a weaker and more distant one. WTF?

And nowhere I have found how to choose a specific router for connection. Everywhere there is an unsubscription that computers and phones do it themselves. How manually - nowhere! And at the same time, last week I installed a new printer from Canon - and so, even he noticed that there are many routers, and ordered to choose a specific one. Here's how to do the same with a laptop?

Hello. It is difficult, of course, from the description to understand who and where you connect there. How the equipment is arranged, etc. But in principle, it is clear what the problem is. The whole point of Wi-Fi Mesh systems is that the network is like one. In fact, there are many of them, but fast roaming works between them. Indeed, the device itself determines which access point to connect to, when to switch, etc.

I see only two options:

Examine the Wi-Fi Mesh system settings. Perhaps there is some kind of function that allows you to bind a specific device to a specific access point. I am not familiar with this equipment, I do not have it, and I cannot check it.
On the computer, in the additional properties of the Wi-Fi adapter in the device manager, there is usually such an item as "Roaming aggressiveness". There are several options out there. In my case there are 5. I show:
You can experiment with these settings. They are responsible for how aggressively the Wi-Fi adapter will switch from one access point to another.
