In this short guide, I will tell you how to disable the wireless Wi-Fi network on Zyxel routers. This instruction is suitable for all Zyxel Keenetic routers, but I will show it using the Zyxel Keenetic Start model as an example.
In fact, the ability to turn off Wi-Fi completely on a router is very popular. For example, you have devices connected by cable and you don't need a wireless network. Or, you can turn off Wi-Fi at night. I don't really want to touch on the topic of the harmfulness of radiation from a router in that article, but if the wireless network is not used, then it is better to turn it off. On my router, the wireless network turns off itself at 12 o'clock in the morning, and turns on at 6 am. Unfortunately, on the Zyxel router, I did not find the settings to turn off and turn on Wi-Fi on a schedule, but this can be done manually.
Disable Wi-Fi on Zyxel with the button, or through the settings
As you may have guessed, there are two ways to do this: using the button on the router (the best and fastest way), and through the control panel.
It is very easy to do this using the button on the router case. We press the button, which is also responsible for activating WPS (with a short press), and hold it for about three seconds.
The Wi-Fi network will be disabled. The indicator that is on and blinking when the wireless network is working should go out. To turn Wi-Fi back on, you need to press and hold this button again.
Disable the wireless network through settings
We go into the settings of the router. If you do not know how to do this, then see the article on logging into the control panel on Zyxel.
In the settings, go to the tab Wi-Fi network (bottom), uncheck the box next to the itemEnable hotspot and press the button Apply.
That's it, the wireless network will not be broadcast. To turn it on, we do everything the same way, only in the reverse order.
