Big ping in games on a new laptop with an old router

Hello. I have a problem. Yesterday I bought an MSI GF63 8RC laptop, installed all the drivers that were already on the hard disk, then updated some through Windows. Connected to the WiFi network at home, installed games. But as soon as I enter the game, the ping rises immediately, it is impossible to play.

Doesn't even go to the server. Nearby is my old laptop, which is connected to the same router, everything is fine with it. The router only supports 2.4ghz, 802.11a / b / g. I connect to the router via a cable - the problem disappears. Intel Wireless AC 9462 network adapter, removed the drivers, reinstalled from the msi site, then uninstalled them, installed the drivers from the Intel site, the problem persisted. In the power saving settings, I increased productivity everywhere.

Is this really a marriage? Tried knocking down the network adapter settings, didn't help. On the Internet, many have such a problem, some refer to marriage, someone resigned themselves, someone solved the problem. I can not. Help. The laptop is only 2 days old. Already 3 in a row Windows install different assemblies.

Hello. It's bad that you didn't write what kind of router you have. Is it really that old that it only supports 802.11a / b / g standards? Not even 802.11n support? Most likely the problem is that the new and modern Intel Wireless AC 9462 Wi-Fi module cannot work stably with such an old router.

What is the speed and ping when checking on this new laptop? You can check the speed using this instruction.

I do not think that this problem can be solved by replacing the drivers, or some settings. Unless you open the Intel Wireless AC 9462 properties in Device Manager and experiment with the settings on the Advanced tab.

But for some reason I am sure that this will not give any results.

The second option, which, in principle, is also possible - the router cannot withstand the load. Based on the technical specifications, the router is old. Not powerful, and possibly already with some technical problems. For example, the power supply unit does not provide the required voltage. And this affects the performance of the router.

Connecting a new laptop and even more so starting an online game puts a heavy load on the router. And a heavy load on a router is always a high ping and low speed. Therefore, a large ping in games. The same can happen when you start playing a high quality online video. Only there speed is more important. And in online games - ping.

Connecting via a network cable does not place such a load on the hardware of the router.
