Good afternoon, I need your help. There are two separate buildings at a distance of ~ 150 meters. One of the buildings has an Internet connection and a TP-LINK TL-WR841N router is already working. But the weak signal does not reach the neighboring building. The phone tried to catch the signal normally only in the middle of the way closer to the building, the signal disappears. Wouldn't you like to pull the cable too? What can you advise? Is it possible to connect the TP-LINK TL-WA830RE repeater in our situation? Are there other ways to amplify the signal?

I would be grateful for your answer!

Answer

Good afternoon. Do not lay the network cable for 150 meters. In the middle, you will have to put a repeater (amplifier). Even at 100 meters there will already be heavy losses, or it will not work at all.

In your case, without additional equipment, it is unlikely that it will be possible to strengthen the Wi-Fi signal. Moreover, if the signal is only in the middle of the path. Although, if without obstacles, then TP-LINK TL-WR841N should break through the signal at 150 meters. Or is TP-LINK TL-WR841N not installed near the end wall in the first building? It seems to me that if the router was a table on the window opposite the house where you want to strengthen Wi-Fi, it would have lasted. It is very difficult to advise something without knowing what and how you have it. The coverage radius depends on many factors.

Most likely you need to install external Wi-Fi access points. Something like TP-LINK CPE210. But it will be expensive. Or try something with external directional antennas like the TP-Link TL-ANT2409. But here the problem is that the antenna cannot be connected to the TP-LINK TL-WR841N. In any case, in another house you will need to install another router that will receive the signal. Work in bridge mode (WDS). If this is another TP-LINK.
