The WDS connection between TP-Link routers is lost and there is no access to the settings

Hello! I use a TP-Link TL-WR720N router as a wifi signal repeater 2 km from the source using a directional antenna. For correct operation, you have to turn off DHCP, otherwise the laptop and smart cannot connect to the Internet. But about once a day, the connection to the Internet disappears (yellow icon). It helps only to reset the settings and configure the WDS bridge on a new one. After that, everything is all right again. But getting to the cherished physical Reset button is very problematic, since the antenna is installed on the roof. It is impossible to enter the "head" of the router, since DHCP is disabled and it throws me to the remote base router, not mine. How can you solve this issue, tell me? Thanks in advance!

Answer

Hello. Of course, it would be nice to solve the problem of disconnecting the connection between routers in WDS bridge mode.

True, it will be very difficult to find the cause of these connection drops. Moreover, you have a network for such a long distance, through a directional Wi-Fi antenna. Maybe this is due to the weak TP-Link TL-WR720N router, there may be some interference, failures on the main router, etc. You can experiment. Set up a network on a different channel (did you set the same channels on both routers?), Change other Wi-Fi network settings.

As for the problem with entering the settings of the TP-Link TL-WR720N router, which is configured in bridge mode. Didn't you change the IP address on it? I just don't understand why you get into the settings of a remote router, since they must have different IP addresses. And even if the TP-Link settings are not available, then an error would simply pop up.

Alternatively, in the settings of the remote router (if you have access to it), in the list of clients of the DHCP server, find the second router (if it does not fall off, but simply the Internet disappears) and go to it.

And after a normal reboot, the connection with the remote router on the TL-WR720N is not restored? Need to do exactly a reset and configure the bridge again?
