Hello. The D-Link 2540U ADSL modem does not establish an Internet connection.

There is some oddity. In order to enter the modem settings, you need to enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser, as indicated on the back of the modem, but 192.168.1.2. Tested on different, completely independent computers. Could this indicate a malfunction of the modem, cause it to malfunction?

After entering the settings, all the options work, you can change the settings, remember, restart, but there is no Internet connection. Outwardly, all indicators show normal operation. Factory reset doesn't change anything. All cables have been tested. The telephone connection works smoothly. Help with advice, thanks.

Hello. As for logging into the web interface using the IP address 192.168.1.2 instead of 192.168.1.1, this can hardly be the reason that the D-Link 2540U cannot connect to the Internet. Just changed the network address of your ADSL modem. This is done in the LAN settings. You can change it back to 192.168.1.1 there. Perhaps someone changed this address when setting up the modem. So that they do not go into his control panel again and change the settings there.

Well, after resetting the settings to the factory settings, the D-Link 2540U control panel should open at 192.168.1.1. As I understand it, resetting in your case does not change anything. This is strange.

Why won't you connect to the internet? Basically, there are two reasons:

  1. The most popular is that the DSL connection to the provider is incorrectly configured. Maybe you are setting some parameters wrong. All this can be checked with your provider.
  2. Some kind of problem with the cable, on the line, or on the ISP side. Since you have ADSL, you cannot connect it directly to your computer for testing.

It would be nice to try connecting another modem. Or configure this modem with a different cable.

Check with the provider's support if there are any problems on their side. Also, in the telephone mode, let them tell you what parameters and where to enter in the D-Link 2540U settings.

When you do a factory reset, does it exactly happen? Did it work before? Is it in the control panel that shows that there is no Internet connection, or does it just not work on devices?

If everything is configured correctly (and you are sure of it), the provider has no problems, then most likely the modem is broken.
