Tenda has introduced a new dual-band router with a powerful processor and many different features and technologies. Model: Tenda AC5. I already got acquainted with this router. You can read his review on our website a little later, but now I want to tell you about the main functions and features of the new Smart-router from Tenda. There is at least one interesting feature in it, which competitors definitely do not have. At least, I have not yet seen it on other devices.
First, let's take a look at what Tenda AC5 looks like. After all, despite the fact that this is a router, I believe that the appearance plays a big role in choosing these devices.
The new model is made in a black plastic case. Very interesting texture of the front panel. Front indicators and company logo. On the sides there are holes for ventilation, and on the back are all buttons and connectors. 4 antennas that can be folded and rotated. Antenna power 5 dbi.
And now about the functions and capabilities of this new product.
Powerful processor
Tenda AC5 is powered by a powerful 1 GHz processor, which is manufactured using 28 nm technology. For a router at this price point (roughly $ 30), this is a very powerful piece of hardware. It will cope with streaming games, or watching videos in 4K format without any problems. This performance is also sufficient for downloading torrents and other resource-intensive tasks.
Dual-band 802.11ac Wave 2.0
Of course, Tenda AC5 can distribute a Wi-Fi network in two bands at once: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Moreover, this router has support for 802.11ac Wave 2.0 and MU-MIM technology. This allows you to receive a total speed of up to 1167 Mbps over Wi-Fi network.
It is thanks to 802.11ac Wave 2.0 that MU-MIMO support is implemented, and the router can work with several devices at the same time. Performance and speed are increased several times.
Beamforming +
Technology thanks to which Tenda AC5 can direct Wi-Fi signal in a certain direction. This improves wireless coverage. It works like this:
A separate channel can also be created between the router itself and the client (phone, tablet, laptop). For a more stable wireless connection.
Function of automatic copying of connection parameters from an old router
If you have already configured a router before, Tenda AC5 can automatically copy the Internet connection parameters (username, password) from the old device. It is enough to connect them with a network cable and activate the function.
This allows you to set up your router even faster. I have not yet seen such a function on devices from other manufacturers.
Smartphone or tablet control via Tenda WiFi app
You will be able to control your router wherever you are. Tenda WiFi mobile app works over the cloud.
You can control the connected devices and block them if necessary. Change the signal strength of the Wi-Fi network, and a large number of other settings. A very handy application, which I will try to write about in a separate article.
Other functions:
- Work in different modes. Tenda AC5 can be configured not only as a router. It can also work as a repeater (to strengthen a Wi-Fi network), WISP, or an access point.
- Sleep mode to save energy.
- A separate button for quickly disconnecting the Wi-Fi network.
- IPTV support.
- Guest Wi-Fi network.
- Simple web interface for router management.
Tenda has managed to develop a router that currently has no competitors in terms of price / performance / functionality.
