A few days ago I published a review on the TP-Link Archer C6, in which I talked about the technical characteristics and functionality of this router. You can also see photos and read user reviews there. But since you have already opened the page with instructions for setting up the Archer C6, you most likely purchased this router and want to configure it. Or in the process of setting up you ran into some problems, and are now trying to solve them.

This post will be completely dedicated to setting up TP-Link Archer C6. I will try to show and tell you in as much detail as possible how to properly connect the router, open its web interface (settings page) and set the basic parameters. The quick setup wizard makes this very easy. We only need to set the router password, set the parameters of the Internet connection and the parameters of the Wi-Fi network. In most cases, these settings are sufficient for normal router operation.
Let's get straight to the point. If the router has already been configured, you changed some parameters in it and saved them, then I recommend immediately resetting the settings to the factory settings. To do this, we need something sharp (paper clip, toothpick). Turn on Archer C6 and wait for it to load. Then we hold down the Reset button and hold it for about 10 seconds. All indicators will turn off and the router will begin to reboot. The button can be released.

We connect the Internet (cable from the provider, or modem) to the blue WAN port of the Internet (see photo below). To configure, you need to connect to the router from some device: PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone.

Two connection options:

Login to TP-Link Archer C6 web interface and quick setup

To open the settings of the Archer C6 router, you need to launch any browser on the device (which is connected to this router) and go to the addresstplinkwifi.net, or 192.168.0.1... You can read more about this in the article tplinkwifi.net - entering the router settings, or how to enter the TP-Link settings. The address must be entered in the address bar, and not in the search bar, otherwise the search engine page will open instead of the router page. If you cannot open the router settings, then check out this article.

A page should appear where you need to set the router password (administrator password). This password will need to be entered in the future every time you enter the TP-Link Archer C6 settings. You need to come up with a password, enter it in the appropriate field (2 times) and click on the "Get started" button.

We set the time zone.

Next, you need to set up an Internet connection. On Archer C6, you can choose your country, city, provider, and the type of Internet connection. Try it.

If you do not find your provider or other settings, then check the box next to "I have not found a suitable setting"... The usual menu will open, where you need to select the type of Internet connection. Very often, users do not know what type of connection their provider is using. If you are one of them, then be sure to check with the provider's support, or look at their website.

If you have a "Dynamic IP address", then you do not need to enter additional parameters (if there is no binding by MAC address). Well, if your ISP uses PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP, then you will need to specify a username and password (as well as the server address for L2TP and PPTP) to connect to the Internet. This information can be specified in the Internet connection agreement.

In the case of "Dynamic IP", the router will ask if the MAC address needs to be cloned. It already depends on your provider: whether they are binding or not.

Next we have a Wi-Fi network setup. It's even easier here. You need to change the network name (SSID) for two networks (one in the 2.4 GHz band, the other in the 5 GHz band) and change the password. It is advisable to write down the password somewhere and not forget. Click "Next".

Check all the settings and click "Save".

The saving process will begin. You need to wait a bit.

If you connected to the router via Wi-Fi, then you need to reconnect, since we have changed the network name and password.

After that, a page should open on which you can run an Internet connection test.

If the router is connected to the Internet, then the router configuration is completed successfully. If an error appears when connecting to the Internet, you can change the settings for connecting to the provider in the "Network" - "Internet" section on the "Additional settings" tab in the web interface.

The network map will open. You may need to go to 192.168.0.1, or manually tplinkwifi.net.

The web interface allows you to configure additional router functions. Basic settings are located in the "Basic settings" section, and advanced settings in the "Additional settings" section.

I will not once again talk about setting up IPTV, guest Wi-Fi network, etc., since we have separate instructions on how to configure these functions on our website. You can find them through the search on the site, or in the TP-Link category.
