How to remove the set-top box and tune the channels on the TV? Error "Missing CI (CAM module)" on LG TV

I got an LG 43UK6200 TV. There is a TV set-top box from MTS. Can't figure out how to set up channels. The TV and set-top box are connected to each other via HDMI, the antenna is connected to the set-top box. If you turn it on via HDMI, then all channels are shown, but you can switch only with the remote control from the set-top box. I want to tune the channels so that they are tuned directly in the TV and switch only with the LG remote. If you connect the antenna to the TV, then it finds all the channels, but writes that there is no CI (CAM module). How to properly connect a TV set-top box from MTS to an LG TV?

Answer

With this question, it is better to contact your cable TV provider. In your case, this is MTS. But I will try to explain why the TV says that there is no CI (CAM module), and what can be done in this situation.

The set-top box itself, in your case, is used to encode video content. That is, with its help you watch TV channels encrypted by the MTS operator. Your LG 43UK6200 TV has a built-in DVB-C tuner (for receiving cable channels), so when you connect the cable from the set-top box to the TV, it finds the channels. But he cannot show them, since they are encrypted. The set-top box decodes them, but the TV cannot. More precisely, he can do this, but for this he needs a CAM-module with an access card (that's why the error "Missing CI (CAM module)" appears).

Roughly speaking, this CAM-module replaces the set-top box from the provider. The CAM module itself, as well as the conditional access card (which is inserted into the CAM module) is issued (sold) by the provider that provides cable television services. It looks something like this:

It is inserted into the TV and decodes the channels the TV found. Then the set-top box is not needed, and you can use only one remote control, from the TV.

I have no information, but I think that MTS should be able to purchase a CAM module and use it on a TV to watch encrypted channels instead of a set-top box. But most likely you will have to pay for it. But this is more convenient, you do not need to turn on the console, use two remotes, etc.

Your LG 43UK6200 TV has a CI + slot where this CAM module is inserted.
