In the previous article, I showed how to connect these headphones to a mobile device (if anything, here's the link), and in this article we will connect our Xiaomi Redmi AirDots or Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds basic to a laptop or desktop computer. Of course, these compact Bluetooth headphones from Xiaomi are best suited for listening to music on the street, while playing sports, or for working as a Bluetooth headset. Primarily because of the TWS format. No wires, which is very convenient. But this is such a popular model of TWS headphones that many people connect them to laptops and even to stationary computers. And in this article I will show you how to do it right.

I have Xiaomi Earbuds basic headphones - they connect seamlessly to a Windows 10 laptop. Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are exactly the same headphones and they work just fine with laptops and PCs.

I checked everything on Windows 10. If you have Windows 7, you can also connect these TWS headphones, but there is a chance that there will be connection problems due to the lack of drivers on AirDots / Earbuds basic. Unfortunately, you won't be able to download the driver specifically for these headphones, but you can try to solve the problem by updating the Bluetooth adapter driver. I'll talk about this in more detail at the end of this article.

Connecting TWS Bluetooth AirDots / Earbuds to Windows 10

To connect Bluetooth headphones, the laptop / computer must have Bluetooth. On laptops it is built-in, but it happens that the driver is not installed. Here you may find useful an article on how to enable and configure Bluetooth on a laptop with Windows 10. In the case of a PC, you will most likely need to buy a separate Bluetooth adapter. We also have a separate article on this topic: Bluetooth adapter for computer.

If you have already connected your Redmi AirDots or Earbuds basic headphones to another device, then to get started they must be disabled... So that they are searchable and the computer can see them. This can be done in the Bluetooth settings of the device to which they are connected. You need to open the properties and "Disable", or "Remove" (forget) the headphones. It is done something like this:You can just as easily turn off Bluetooth on the device to which the headphones are connected.

After disconnecting on the right earphone the white indicator should flash slowly.

This means that the Xiaomi headphones are ready to be connected to a laptop.

We connect:

  1. Open the Bluetooth settings in Windows 10. To do this, go to the settings, in the "Devices" section. Bluetooth and other devices tab. Or navigate to Settings from Action Center.
  2. Then click on "Add Bluetooth or other device" and in a new window click on "Bluetooth".
  3. The search for Bluetooth devices starts. At this moment, the indicator on the right earphone Xiaomi Redmi AirDots or Earbuds should flash white slowly... If this is not the case for you, then see the tips above (highlighted in red). If the headphones turn off (the indicator does not blink), then put them in the charging case and remove them again, or press the button (on each earbud) and hold for one second.
  4. When the laptop or PC finds the headphones, just click on them. The pairing process will begin and our TWS headphones will be connected. Your headphones may be called "Redmi AirDots_R". It all depends on the version. More precisely for which country your copy was made.
The inscription “Connected voice, music” means that our Redmi AirDots can be used both for listening to music (in stereo mode) and for talking in various messengers. The microphone works too.
  5. The headphones will show up in the Bluetooth options. The headphone charge level will also be displayed there. By clicking on them, you can "Disconnect" or "Remove device".
This must be done before connecting the headphones to another device. Since after turning on (or after you take them out of the case) they will automatically connect to the laptop (if they are near the laptop). And they will not be searchable on other devices.
  6. The multi-function button on the headphones in Windows also works. As with mobile devices, one tap pauses and starts music playback. Unfortunately, you cannot switch tracks.

I didn't have any problems connecting to Windows 10. Everything connects quickly and works stably. Two articles you might find useful:

Headphones from Xiaomi and Windows 7

You can connect these TWS earbuds to Windows 7 using the following instructions: connect Bluetooth earbuds to Windows 7.

In the same place, I talked about possible problems that, unfortunately, often occur when connecting a wide variety of wireless headphones to Windows 7. It happens that the computer does not see the headphones at all, or they are connected but do not work. They are not available in playback devices. All this is due to the fact that the headphones are new, and Windows 7 and the Bluetooth driver are old. This problem can often be solved by installing a new version of the Bluetooth adapter driver.

At the same time, it is not possible to download a driver specifically for Redmi AirDots or Xiaomi Earbuds headphones. Do not see this, there will most likely be some kind of virus.

If you still have questions, ask them in the comments. I will definitely answer and try to help. If you have experience in connecting these headphones to a computer, you may have encountered some problems and successfully solved them - tell us about it. Your advice can be useful to many.
