There is no "Firmware Update" section on TP-Link TL-WR841N. The router is locked under the provider

Good afternoon! I rented a router, which is flashed by the provider. There is no "upgrade" item in the "system tools" section of the web interface, but the emulator does. My router only has a "backup" item. Therefore, the newbie question: can the firmware be updated through the "backup" section, as I was advised? The file extensions are the same, like - .bin. The recommendation seemed strange (the file with the settings and the firmware are different things, right?), I don't risk flashing the router in a non-standard way)
Here is a screenshot of the router menu:

Thank you for attention)

Answer

Good afternoon. To be honest, I have never heard that it was possible to flash a TP-Link router by restoring settings if there is no "Firmware update" item. Yes, when the provider issues a router, it often happens that the user does not have the opportunity to update the firmware according to the standard scheme. The router is, as it were, locked under the provider.

As far as I know, in the "Backup and Restore" section you can only save or restore settings.

What is your provider? For example, there is such a Ukrainian provider as Kyivstar. There it also issues routers, though not TP-Link TL-WR841N, but TP-Link TL-WR8741N, and you just can't just take it and flash it. There is no "Firmware" section in the router settings. But, there is a solution. You just need to go to the address:

http://192.168.1.1/userRpm/SoftwareUpgradeRpm.htm

We get to the page where you can select the firmware file and update it.
