After upgrading Windows 10 to version 1809, the Network Status tab in Windows 10 Settings displays the message "No connection. You are not connected to any network." Also, because of this, I can not check for updates, error: "We were unable to check for updates because there is no Internet connection. Please make sure that you have mobile data or Wi-Fi connectivity and try again."

Internet connection via cable (High-speed with PPPoE), the browser loads the page, the Internet works. If it connects to the wi-fi network, then the error disappears, updates are checked, in the parameters it says there is access to the Internet. On another PC running Windows 10 version 1703, everything works with the same connection setup.

Resetting the network did not help. Resetting TCP / IP settings, DNS cache, clearing Winsock parameters have no effect.

Answer

I have not heard of such a problem in Windows 10. It turns out that only "Windows Settings" do not see the Internet connection.

First of all, of course, you need to reset the network settings. What have you already done. After resetting the network, did you re-create your high-speed connection? If not, try removing it, disconnecting the network cable from the computer, restarting it and re-creating the Internet connection.

It's strange that the error "No connection. You are not connected to any network." appears only when connected via cable, but works via Wi-Fi.

In this case, I can only advise you to roll back the update.

If you managed to solve this problem in another way, please share in the comments.

Update: manually add the default gateway

In the comments, Boris suggested a solution that, judging by the reviews, helped many get rid of the error "No connection. You are not connected to any network." And when trying to check for new updates, the following message appeared:

“We were unable to check for updates because there is no internet connection. Please make sure you have mobile data or Wi-Fi connectivity and try again "

Since the solution is working, I decided to add it to the article and explain in more detail.

Solution # 1

You need to go to Options - "Update and Security". Windows Update tab. Go there to "Advanced Options".

Then you need to enable the item "Automatically download updates even through metered connections".

If it doesn't help, see the second solution.

Solution # 2

Open the "Network Connections" window. To avoid looking for it, press the Win + R keyboard shortcut and run the ncpa.cpl command. Open the properties of the "Ethernet" connection. If you have Wi-Fi connected to the Internet, then open the properties of the "Wireless network" adapter.

We select the IP version 4 (TCP / IPv4) protocol. Click on the "Properties" and "Advanced" buttons.

In the "Basic gateways" section, click on the "Add" button and register the gateway 123.132.141.1. Close the window by clicking "Ok".

Don't forget to leave comments. Thanks to Boris!
