ADSL internet problem. Low speed via TP-Link TD-W8901N

Hello. I have an Internet connection via ADSL technology. The TP-Link TD-W8901N router is connected to the telephone line through a splitter just like the telephone itself. Configured according to standard settings (http://www.tp-linkru.com/faq-113.html example). The tariff from Rostelecom costs up to 4mb / sec. But with standard settings, the maximum speed reaches only ~ 55 kb / s. A month ago, I was poking around in the settings and "by the scientific poke method" reached the approximate value of the maximum speed up to the one declared by the provider, and yesterday I confused the reset buttons and the WPS button and lost the settings. The speed became 55 kb as before.

The question is - how can I remove the maximum speed limit if it is the default, or what is it to get the speed declared by the provider? It's not about the provider, computer, router, but about the settings, I already know for sure. Also, the Internet connection is constantly lost (approximately every 1-2 minutes for 5-10 seconds), which is why in online games the image freezes or simply throws it out of the game if the breaks are long. When I set up these problems myself, there were no problems.

Answer

Hello. When the modem, in your case TP-Link TD-W8901N, is at factory settings, it does not limit the speed of ADSL Internet in any way. If there is a modem connection, then it should be at the highest possible speed. And in general, the speed of 4 Mbps is very low. And it's even difficult to rearrange that the router can still cut it. Here the problem may be more likely with the ADSL provider Rostelecom.

In any case, in order not to guess, you need to call Rostelecom support and explain the problem. Together with them, in the telephone mode, configure your TP-Link TD-W8901N (check the settings). Perhaps you have specified some parameters incorrectly, which is why such a bad speed. In this situation, this is the most correct decision.

Regarding Internet interruptions via the TD-W8901N ADSL modem: it is quite possible that these interruptions are due to problems with the provider, or due to a hardware problem in the modem. You can try updating your modem's firmware. Again, there are a lot of different nuances and options. It would be nice to try how another modem will work. Then a lot would have cleared up.

And another thing: such a low speed on all devices that are connected to TP-Link TD-W8901N? And where did you get the speed of 55 Kbps, where did this figure come from? Please answer in the comments below.
