Unable to connect to the site. Websites do not open in Yandex Browser

Most often, the error "Unable to establish a connection to the site" appears in Yandex Browser. This error can be observed in other browsers when trying to go to a site. It just looks like this in a Yandex browser. Below you can still see the description: "Unable to determine the DNS address of the server ..." This message may appear when you open a specific site, or all sites. As a result, the site simply does not open in the browser.

Also in the description of the error it may be written: "The page at the address ... may be temporarily unavailable or moved to a new address."

I myself have often seen messages in Yandex.Browser: "Connection dropped", or "The site (for example, youtube.com) does not allow establishing a connection."

Now we will try to figure out what to do in such a situation, how to fix the error and get access to the site. Please note that in this case it does not matter which site you do not open: YouTube, Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, or some less popular resource.

What to do (check) first of all:

  • Whether your laptop or PC is connected to the Internet.
  • Restart your computer and router (if any).
  • Check if sites (specific site) open in other browsers.
  • The error "Unable to establish a connection to the site" in Yandex Browser appears when you open one (several) sites, or all.
  • Undo settings that you may have made before the error appeared. Including the installation of programs, antiviruses, etc.
  • Disable VPN. If you have such programs or browser add-ons installed.
  • Try to log in as a different user. For example, under an administrator account. If you have more than one account.
  • If the problem is with one site, then it is quite possible that the problem is on the site's side. Try accessing it from another browser / device.

If the solutions described below do not help, then you can describe your case in the comments to this article. Write about the results of the check for each item.

Is there an internet connection?

Most often, of course, sites in the browser do not open even when the computer is connected to the Internet (due to problems with DNS, proxy, antivirus, viruses, etc.). And when our computer is not connected to the Internet, the browser will tell us: "There is no Internet connection."

Browsers are smart now 🙂 But still, the first thing I advise is to check if there is an Internet connection. Pay attention to the connection icon on the notification bar. Is there a yellow exclamation mark next to the Wi-Fi or local area connection icon. And in general, is your computer connected to the Internet. The connection status should be like this:

If you have a connection without Internet access, then see the solutions in the articles:

  • Without internet access in Windows 7
  • "Connection limited" in Windows 10

As a rule, the connection status is normal, but there is absolutely no access to the site (or sites).

If you cannot establish a connection to the site only in Yandex Browser

If the error "Connection reset" (or another) appears only in one browser, then you need to clear the cookies and cache in the browser itself. And check the proxy settings and installed add-ons (disable all add-ons for checking, especially VPN, antivirus, etc.).

So, clear cache and cookies... Open Yandex Browser and press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Del. Or go to the "Menu" - the "History" tab and click on the link "Clear history".

We select "For all time" and tick off two items: "Files stored in the cache" and "Cookies ...".

Then click "Clear history".

Checking the proxy server settings. Go to "Menu" - "Settings". Below, click on the "Show advanced settings" button. Find and click on "Change proxy settings". Then we click on the "Network Settings" button and check that all the checkmarks are removed. As in the screenshot.

Then you can try to disable all add-ons. In the menu, open the settings and go to the "Add-ons" tab. Disable all third party add-ons.

After checking, turn the necessary add-ons back.

Update: enable DNSCrypt

In the Yandex Browser settings, in the section "Security" - "Protection against threats" - "Connection protection", you need to put a tick next to "Use DNS server for DNSCrypt encryption".

This solution has already been advised several times in the comments. I don't know about yours, but my DNS server for DNSCrypt encryption was enabled by default.

If sites do not open in all browsers

Further attention! If no browser (Chrome, Opera, Mozilla, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge) opens sites, then the problem is most likely in the proxy server settings, or in the DNS server. It is possible that the browser cannot establish a connection to the site due to viruses, or antivirus. I wrote about all these solutions in the following articles (they are common to all browsers):

  • Cannot find the DNS address of the server
  • The browser does not open pages (sites)
  • Error "Unable to resolve the server's DNS address"
  • Your connection is not secure in Chrome, Opera, Yandex Browser, Amigo

Following the instructions I linked above, be sure to try the following:

  • Register DNS from Google (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4).
  • Check proxy settings.
  • Reset network settings.
  • Temporarily disable antivirus.
  • Check your computer for viruses using antivirus utilities.

These steps should help you. True, if the problem is not on the side of the site itself, or the provider. Perhaps the provider simply blocked access to the site, or something else.

What to do if all else fails and Yandex Browser does not open sites

To fix the error in the browser when the connection to the site cannot be established, try a few more steps:

  1. If possible, connect your computer to the Internet in a different way (to another Wi-Fi network, for example). Check to see if the error "Connection dropped" appears.
  2. Uninstall and reinstall the problematic browser. In our case, this is most likely a browser from Yandex. Just note that by deleting the browser, all your passwords, bookmarks, settings, etc. will be deleted. You can set up synchronization, or save them to a file.
  3. Create another user on the computer, and log in on his behalf. The solution is this itself, but it can help.
  4. Don't forget about checking your computer for viruses and malware.
  5. Reset your network settings. Here is the instruction. Suitable for both Windows 7 and Windows 8, as well as Windows 10 (although there is another way, through the parameters).
  6. Determine what is the reason, and write about it in the comments. How to determine? Having opened sites in another browser, through another connection, etc. If, for example, YouTube or Vkontakte does not open, then check if other sites open. If the error is in Yandex Browser, then we check everything in other browsers. On other devices, through the same internet connection.

I look forward to your feedback. Write about solutions that helped you. Ask questions. Just describe everything in detail. Good luck!
