Good day. I have a question ... I have an LG 43u640v TV it supports Smart TV and control. But I wanted me to transfer the image and video from YouTube, for example. But I have a problem living in the village. There is no talk about LAN. But I have a phone with a megabyte limit. Tell me which device you need to buy to implement my problem? Thanks in advance.

Answer

Good afternoon. LG does not have such a TV as you wrote above (LG 43u640v). There is a LG 43UF640V model. I think you have just that. Yes, this TV has a Smart TV on webOS and a built-in Wi-Fi module. And this is very good in your case.

So you need to connect your LG TV to the Internet via your mobile phone. You did not write which phone you have with unlimited mobile internet, but I suspect it is an Android smartphone.

So, in order to connect the TV to the Internet in your case and watch YouTube videos on it, use the browser and other applications in LG Smart TV, you need to distribute the mobile Internet via Wi-Fi from your smartphone, and connect to this network (which will hand out the phone) your LG TV. You don't need to buy anything extra.

Procedure:

  1. In the smartphone settings, start the Wi-Fi hotspot. This function may be called differently depending on the manufacturer, Android version, etc. It is located in the setting, where Wi-Fi is. For example, you can see the article on how to distribute the Internet from a Samsung smartphone (Android 7.0) via Wi-Fi. After launching the access point, the phone will broadcast the Wi-Fi network. The phone will be like a modem (router). I advise you to put the phone on charge, as it will drain quickly.
  2. Further, in the TV settings, in the "Network" section, you need to connect the TV to the Wi-Fi network that your phone distributes.
Just select your network and enter the password. It is installed on the phone when the access point starts.
  3. The TV connects to Wi-Fi and you can launch applications from the Smart TV menu. They should be able to access the internet via their phone.

I don't have such a TV on Smart TV webOS, so I can't explain in more detail.

Possible problem: many mobile operators block mobile internet distribution in this way. Therefore, if your operator also blocks, then the TV can connect to Wi-Fi, but the Internet will not work.

Try it. You can write about the results in the comments below. Good luck!
