Hello, everywhere on the Internet they write about creating a Mesh system in the house, but they are silent about the street. But if a person lives in a country house and has a large yard, then he needs a connection on the street. We can say that it will catch the mobile Internet, but this is not always the case, I can catch happiness E in my village, so there is no way with it.

Therefore, I ask you, please, find an inexpensive, good unified WiFi Mesh system for both the street and the house. Because I was looking, I found TP-Link Omada, but it's expensive and not worth it, maybe you know something else? If necessary, I can say the area of the site and the house.

Answer

Hello. Good question. Just want to clarify about the TP-Link Omada. This is not a Mesh system, it is a whole line of business class access points (including outdoor). That is, these devices were designed for use in hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.

I just looked, looked, and did not find a single Wi-Fi Mesh system, not a single manufacturer who would have outdoor modules that can be placed on the street. All have standard environmental requirements: 0 ° C to 40 ° C, humidity up to 90% percent (non-condensing). That is, the usual module of any Mesh system cannot be used outdoors. Perhaps outdoor modules appear over time. Or maybe there is already, but I did not find them. In principle, in our area, in the summer, you can place the Mesh system module outside, protecting it from moisture. Install somewhere under a canopy, in a gazebo. But when the temperature drops to 0 ° C, it will have to be removed.

If you need to organize Wi-Fi network coverage on the street, near your home, then Wi-Fi Mesh systems have certain advantages here. Even without placing the Wi-Fi module on the street. It can be installed in the house, in the garage, in another room from the side of your yard. For example, if the main module is installed in the corridor, and there is no Wi-Fi network coverage outside, then the second module can be placed in the room closest to the yard. In this case, only one wall will separate the street and the Mesh system module. And there should be normal wireless coverage outside.

See how the broadcast of a Wi-Fi signal is shown in the photo.

If we move the module closer to the wall, then the signal coverage on the street will increase.

Of course, placing the Wi-Fi Mesh system module on the street would have a better signal, but again, I have not seen such solutions yet.
